But enough times to make me think it's not just me accidentally touching the device dashboard (?) icon at the bottom left of the home page with a trailing finger.

I'm probably being a bit thick, (No change there, then )....But are the 'clear' photo's taken with the same camera/phone. ?
If they are, that's rather strange.

My normal camera lens is terminally fogged
Took it to a phone shop the other day, not repairable

More like desert dust kicked up from the conflict I think Phil !
