20th Century / Re: WW2 Naval rules
Last post by Ithoriel - 09 July 2024, 12:36:03 PM
I have GQ2 and Victory at Sea and of the two prefer GQ2. I just find the latter easier to get my head around.

However, recently I've been playing Sam Mustafa's Nimitz/ Halsey rules which I prefer to either of the other two.

It's quick to play, simple mechanics and for me gives the right results (sometimes for what feels like the wrong reasons). It won't be to everyone's taste but I recommend giving them a go if you get the chance.

Take a look at Victory at Sea from Warlord, not played yet but look good. Its very well supported on Facebook.  Also A&A Engineering may have sumat, if they are still around

Thanks all for the welcome!

@SteveJ - that's a good idea re using 6mm buildings (of which I do have several). I'll go give that a try.

@fsn - browsing the Pendraken shop as I type!

20th Century / WW2 Naval rules

Hi

I've got GQ2, but haven't played them in years. Is there any other rules you'd suggest, or shall I relearn GQ? (Orcs did give me a cd with GQ3 on, but I don't have a CD drive at the mo!)

Just got this one :- WEBSITE FAILURE
Hello all, I have been informed that the server hosting the QRF website, along with other companies, has suffered a catastrophic failure. This has resulted in all information being lost.

Please bear with me as I rebuild the website and get any outstanding orders out to you.

I'll update you when I have more information.

Kind regards

QuoteContinuing the naval theme I came across this recently - A very well made animated story of one Japanese destroyer during the 2nd night action between USN and IJN capital ships in November 1942 just off Guadalcanal:

QuoteDefinitely, I've wanted to get that back into production for years.  I think the current plan is to convert it into a modular setup instead, so that you can create different types.
