Thanks. As I keep saying it's the sculpting on these that makes them look so good. It seems that they reward 'painting in the lines' as this brings out even more. For instantance the cartridges / apostles where given a brush over them which nicely picks out the raised up areas and leaves the rest in shadow. Looking at the size of these I can't even begin to think how they were sculpted.

Epic Game

We played Epic on Friday, for the first time in a few months, Tau trying to break out through Imperial Guard and Squats (the IG Squat alliance was mainly so I could field my newly painted Squats!)

Only took 1 photo  :(  must have been too much into the game for the rest of the evening.

This is pretty much at the start, I have missed all my troops out of the photo to the right. The Tau are in the middle (mainly white troops) and the IG at the far end of the table mainly in brown against the desert terrain!

It was a good game, it initially seemed the Tau were taking lots of casualties, but they swapped their breakout direction from against the Squats (to the right) to the opposite side (the palm trees at the top left) when they unexpectedly broke the IG heavy tanks on that side. We ended up running out of time, but it would have come down to the wire.

Someone before said they look like ham!

As I had played Epic, I had to have a rummage through the big box of epic stuff, to see what else was ready to go. And the first thing I found was 3 sticks of Squats, a unit of Berserkers and some armoured Warlords

Squat Berserkers

These guys paint up fast - only put the first coat of green on at 5pm today - and they are now pretty much done (and I have done lots of other real world stuff in that time too).

Also got the Regiment Boisseleau based up

Really liking how these chaps have come out.

I also did a Paul style count up of the LoA project

Total LoA Painted
Units
Commanders / Guns  - 0
Foot / Horse  - 4

Figures
Foot - 169
Horse -15
Guns - 0

Cracking!

Those are "eggs on legs" Heartguard in power armour aren't they? Somehow they look quite charmingly quaint in Epic scale :)

I think the eggs on legs are the Warlords in power armour. The Hearthguard are the ones in the bronze armour on the left of the middle painting stick. From what I can work out from the photos on the epic army lists!

Ah yeah, they're Warlords in Exo-Armour aren't they? I think my memory for Squats has conflated all Exo-Armour into Hearthguard in Exo-Armour :D

I really like the look of the LoA regiment!

Thanks!

Got some basing done last night, using wood filler, so left them to dry rather than taking photos last night.

Left to right we have Lizardmen Shaman, Epic Squat Berserkers, Epic Tyranid Gargoyles

The Lizardmen need a little bit of finishing off - I really like the statue model.
The Tyranid Gargoyles were painted ages ago, but for some reason they haven't got their bases done.

Might get some flock stuck on various ones tonight (including LoA figures).

Really like what you've done with the statue.
