Here we are again for another eclectic butterfly journey through my wargaming year.

I'll link to the previous years again - because it helps me, when I am trying to find my own stuff!

2015s thread was a good size, though not quite to the levels of 2014, with 462 posts and 18,588 views. The 2014 thread gained a further 16,000 views since the close of the year - which is quite astounding.

Most years I have written about what I think I will paint in the coming year - rarely has this survived more than a week.

There are a couple of sets of painting that I really should progress

  • WWI British - these are sprayed, and base coated in brown - so really should progress quickly. This would also give me a pair of playable forces, as I have already done the late War Germans
  • Arab Heavy Cavalry - getting these guys painted would improve this army a lot for not a lot of effort.

It's interesting that the above could be a copy and paste from last year (and the Arabs quite possibly from the year before) not sure what is stopping progress on these two forces. Well with the Arabs its probably because the figures are TB line and are multi-part and detailed so require quite a lot of work to assemble and paint. But as heavy cavalry they have a lot of armour which is easy to paint. This certainly can't be the excuse for the WWI British! I've done the assembly of the guns, and the painting is pretty straight forward for both the infantry and the guns - with the option of some nice dazzle camo as a change.

I'll try to supply a steady stream...

I think I will try to take some more photos of finished units against proper backgrounds - rather than the quick snaps on the painting table.

But quick snaps are easy!

So here are some latests additions to the banana Space Marines, some scouts and some Land Speeders

Who will get their first outing on the table tonight.

In my defence, the Space Marines are much closer to completion than either of those two problem children.  And they were needed for a game tonight - which they won on their first outing vs the Orks. It was a Breakout game and the mobility and resilience of the SM paid out.

Realised I need to add some Air Support to the SM, and some AA - as the Orks fighter/bombers were very troublesome.

We seem to have reached a consensus on Epic as our groups game of choice for the next 6 weeks or so, but have failed to choose the next choice after that...

So expect to see a fair but of Epic stuff in the next few weeks - butterfly effects willing.

So of course here is a 10mm Windmill! Did a bit of a desk tidy up, and re-found the Esconographica Windmill that I bought in the autumn. Did a bit of detailing on the windows and exposed brickwork, and stuck on a base.
I had previously drilled in a bit of brass rod for the sails - I have left these so they can be removed for ease of storage.

And did a bit of work on some banana Marines. Finished off the 4 stands of scouts - not sure why they are wearing khaki clothing with bright yellow armour? And did some light conversions on a couple of Land Speeders to change them into the gun armed variant. And re-based the 4 black ones on to nice Minibits 25mm MDF ones.

Thanks chaps!

More yellow...

Black land speeders, given a light coat of white, then some yellow, which still looks a bit patchy.
And the land raiders, stuck on 30mm Minibits MDF bases, and given a coat of yellow - also need to paint their second gun black, I was using this to hold them when painting the tracks before sticking them to their bases.
