Minotaur Command and Casters

Had these guys a while, and hadn't been sure how to base them - but went for 40mm squares for the casters, and 2ps for the commanders. Then they can be used with our home brew rules, and with Warband, using sabot bases.

Still fairly WIP but decided to get sand on them tonight so it can dry overnight.

These are a mix of the new Warband sculpts and a few older figures - the new ones are very nice. The drummer is a particular favourite.

Looking very nice, Forbes !

What colour are you going for, for the 'Runestone' ?

Cheers - Phil

fred.

Ta Phil, and my compliments to the sculptor too.  I really like what you have done with the commanders and casters for the Warband packs.

I'm thinking of grey for the Bulls head tune stone, not least to contrast with all the brown. Perhaps with gilded horns.

Nice idea. I might go with a dark grey for the Bulls head, and a lighter grey for the stones around it.

But looking for a link now, I can't see them on either Pendraken or Minibits webstores.

You're right! I got mine from Pendraken too, but can't find the code.

We've stopped stocking those unfortunately, the shipping costs and import duty made it less viable to keep selling them.  We've got a few bags left which we're selling off cheap, so I'll get a list sorted out and put it up here.
www.pendraken.co.uk - Now home to over 10,000 products, including nearly 5000 items for 10mm wargaming, plus MDF bases, Battlescale buildings, I-94 decals, Litko Gaming Aids, Militia Miniatures, Raiden Miniatures 1/285th aircraft, Red Vectors MDF products, Vallejo paints, Tiny Tin Troops flags and much, much more!

Very kind, Forbes. :-[

I have to say that I really did enjoy doing this particular army.

Minotaur Command and Casters

Got another layer on the flesh, a bit of gold on the shiny trinkets, and flocked the bases.  Thats these guys done. It feels a bit rough and ready, but it seems to work.

Gribblies

Having made good progress with the Minotaurs I had a bit of a rummage for other part painted stuff that could progress quickly. I found 8 painting sticks of Onslaught not Tryandids, dry brushed in dark red.

They have had a quick dry brush of red, the bases painted brown, and on the combat ones, the heads painted pale sand and the claws black.
Thats the combat ones done, bar a strong brown wash,  in about 45 mins.
The shooty ones need their carapaces painting pale brown, and their guns bright green.

Then basing - which will probably take longer than the painting...

Tyranid Gribblies

Did the carapaces of the shooty ones, and their guns tonight. And gave both sets a brown wash.

Also took the photo from a bit further away so not so much glare in it.

Hopefully get them on bases in the next couple of nights - which is a fiddly job, as the cast on bases are flat circles, which stand out really badly if you don't get a fair bit of sand on them - but are still small so getting glue on the base and not on the figure is fiddly.
