Ta Chaps.

Paul, it's probably my quick explanations, in the second photo the black and red Knights, where about to by-pass the village and attack the bowmen at the top of the picture. It was the mass of infantry around the hill to the left who where about to take the village.

The first photo shows the other flank, slightly earlier in the game.

Bikers Guild

I have lots more of these chaps to finish off - I got a lot painted off eBay, but need to move them from their predominately blue scheme to mine with more grey and green.

Iron Eagle Gyrocopters

Thudd Guns

Tarantula sentry guns and Robots

The main things left to paint are commanders and the war engines; the Land Trains and the Colossus, plus more infantry. But this looks a pretty playable force to be getting on with

Been a bit poorly this week, so no painting until today  :'(   and even missed gaming on Friday night  :'( :'(

So with proper butterfly ability I've switched from Sci Fi to Pike and Shotte!

Had a rummage through the big box of LoA figures, sorted them into Baroque units, worked out a few more things that need buying (of course!!). And got a unit of foot and one of horse sprayed.

I have made good progress on the foot this evening:

William's Garde te Voet - I've gone fairly strong orange on the facings, there seems to be no great agreement on what shade they should be from yellow, through orange to red. But as he is Prince of Orange, the choice seems pretty simple to me!!

I've already got a handful of these chaps painted from a couple of years ago, so I unbased them - which turned out to be very easy, as I'd used wood filler, that loosen easily in some water.  They are going to be big units with 3 x 40x40mm bases, with around 50 figures in total.

Faces, wood work and buff leather to do next

Yes thanks, nothing serious just felt very rubbish for a few days.

I've been doing some more research on LoA era units, and I think I might be over doing the pikes a bit. I've gone for 1 base of pikes to 2 bases of muskets. Which seems to be the typical ratio for ECW, but by the 1690s the ratio seems to have dropped to 1:3 or even 1:5, with a few notable units dropping pikes entirely.

So I may need to add a few more musketeers to the central stand and drop the number of pikemen. Which is a pain as I sorted out figures into units yesterday  >:(

Garde te Voet

Lot more work on these guys today, all the colours filled in, with a second pass to get the gaps - the biggest pain with white base coat. Highlights added to blue, orange, and flesh.

Thinking about adding a brown wash - might try to just add this to the non-blue areas - then I think these guys are pretty much there, maybe a bit of gold on the officers. Apparently hats and uniforms were fairly plain, so the troopers should be OK as is.

Next up a Jacobite cavalry regiment.
