Here you are on some Grymn (Hasslefree space dwarves) it would have been easier to go out and find them in the garage and photograph them from fresh.

Thanks for the link - I'm not sure about that look - but might try the general light grey dry brush, it'll be similar to giving a dry brush of a dust colour to WWII tanks.

Actually, I really like it, apart from ducky at the front! Maybe a pair of eyes?

Eyes... hmmm, there are some nice round hatches available on the side of the turret.

I'm kind of liking the grey/blue/yellow bonkersness of the whole thing.

Played more mini epic on Friday, Squats (with newly painted land train) vs Space Marines

Early game - the Squats have advanced into the village, and have just repulsed the first Marine assault. On the far side the Squats are dominating the Objective, and some Terminators have just teleported in, and failed in their assault on some artillery - mainly due to some awful dice rolls!

Later on the far flank, the Marines have attacked in force. The Bikes, who were probably the Marine MVP have shot away the defending warriors, and Iron Eagle gyrocopters have retreated and the Tactical Marines have arrived in force. Suddenly this flank was looking a bit weak for me  =)

Later, on the left flank, the Cyclops and Land Train have provided devastating fire, but are far too far from the objective

In the distance you might see the Moles that the Squat Berserkers tunnelled to the objective in. Unfortunately they arrived under the watchful gaze of a Devastator Company, who rather lived up to their name. Killing half the Squats in one volley. Ouch. So much for my assault on the second objective.

Another good, game, looked to be going to the Squats early on, swung to the Marines, and ended up a no-score draw, as I was able to shoot the Marines off both objectives, but couldn't get my troops to either of them.

Thanks chaps.

Too much 1:1 scale painting this weekend, but did get to make some rocky outcrops

In the raw foam

With some paint

Not quite sure what the next step is. I'd like these to be dual purpose for both desert and more temperate games. Thinking some tufts and a bit of flock on the bases. Don't know if the brown is still a bit dark?

+1....They don't look too dark, in the photo, Forbes. (For me, anyway.)

Thanks chaps, glad to know I'm on the right lines.

While looking for tufts last night, I found various small gravel, so have addd quite a bit of that.

I think I still need a bit of flock on the edges, to break up the circular shape a bit.

How about a lone, gnarled, spindly tree clutching precariously to existence atop the rocky crag?

Looking good though.
