Highlight with dark grey, very dark blue or very dark green depending on the effect required.

Sounds a good idea. Brad's in the painting comp had a fair bit of metallic paint on them.

In museums the look flat black - but this is too dark at this scale I think.

They also had russeted armour which I'm assuming is a deepy, rusty, metallicy colour and blued armour which is a tad self explanatory- a really dark blue so I would be tempted to mix Prussian Blue with a snippsy bit of gunmetal. More so on breatplates than anything else.

Bit more work on the Ren Cavalry



Haven't had a go at the armour yet - mainly working on the Croat Horse - trying to make them look consistent without being all the same.

Harquebusier at the back, Dragoons in the middle, and Reiters nearest the camera, Croat horse to the right


Close up of the Reiters with blued armour - looks rather washed out in the photo


Next steps are some highlights / shading of the clothing.
