Have to say I had wondered if the new, rumoured to be 8mm, size was down to the number of manufacturers doing 6mm figures every bit as good as the GW ones.

It would be GW's normal practise to change stuff to make their stuff incompatible with the general market (or even their own stuff) - and then assume their's is normal.

Played Epic on Friday night, Tau vs Imperial Guard.

The Tau had taken over a factory area on a planet, and the Imperial guard were attacking to re-take it

Overview from a recon satellite, pre battle.

Towards the end of the first turn, with the Tau players active, they hold the factory area, but have taken casualties on the far side

The IG forces massing to attempt to take the town, lots of artillery and tanks

Towards the end of the game - the IG have swarmed into the factory area

Phalanx - and Competition Wins figures

Visited Phalanx show yesterday, to pick up a big bag of stuff from Pendraken, thanks to two competition wins, and to see what else took my fancy

Big bag of Pendraken loveliness - thanks to Leon and Dave for running the guess the posts comp, its my favourite  ;) Leon says that I will have to make a guess for 300,000 posts before anyone else!

The contents of the bag, and the few other bits I bought - I only spent about £30 on other stuff, at least half of which I spent at Pendraken to get the flags, trees, and some dice.

I have made some in-roads on that front.

Some more detailed photos of stuff

The new wooden bridge - this is very nice. Can be easily made in to a smaller bridge just using one of the pieces of decking. Or could be used as a pier.

Lizardmen Mages I really like these too - great sculpts Phil. The totem would make a great Oriental / Chinese Foo Dog if fitted to an appropriate body.

Haedusmen and and Beestmen Lots of infantry to add to by Centaurs and Minotaurs to make a Herd army, style after KoW

WWI Some big British tanks, and supply carrier variants (in resin), a couple of German armoured cars and a few wagons

WWII French a lot of infantry, mainly Dragons Portee to add to my existing armour. Some very nice sculpts here too.

Sea Creatures - some octopi, fishmen, and giant crabs (who seem to have escaped the photo) These are to make a Netican army again based on KoW - a bit bonkers but fun, and pretty easy with the Pendraken figures

And some painting! Today being Fathers day I got to mess around with models all day!! Yeah! And it rained lots this afternoon so gardening was off.

Cleaned and sprayed a bunch of stuff acquired yesterday

Sea Creatures

And started to get some paint on these chaps too! The giant crabs have made their way back into this photo. They crabs are really heavy, they are a big old chunk of lead.

Araby Knights

Added Pendraken Janissary flags to these guys - only painted the cut edges of the red flags so far, still to do the green and black bits.
Also rebased the green and yellow knights off 20x40 bases on to 40x40 bases. They had been coming off the old bases and for our rules 40x40 bases are the standard, and make a nice heavy block when filled with cavalry.

Excellent knights. I also like the look of that bridge, which could come in very useful in a Kissingen game I am planning.

How big is the bridge? I'm half thinking it might make a small pier for 28mm skirmish? Like a fishing platform or similar...
