Nice  :)

For planes I tend to use a 50x50 base & either drill out a nice hole & use dowel or plastic rod which is then embedded into putty on the base...for lighter planes I'll use a large paperclip bent around & glued into a groove I file onto the underside of the fuselage... the clip is bent into a triangular shape for gluing to the base [& again covered with putty]...

...if that makes sense   ???

Got a pic??

You can kind-of see what I mean from these - but I'll take some under-fuselage shots tomorrow [batteries on charge at moment..]

QuoteMate - that looks lovely
Why thank you  :D ,
Next stage getting it upyfied into the air so thanks for all the photos, I am thinking a banking pose so the pilot can spot those dino's below
Sometimes I wonder - why is that frisbee geting bigger - and then it hits me!

nikharwood

My camera has decided it doesn't actually want to be a camera anymore & is much happier in life being an expensive metal paperweight...grr... >:(

Once I can convince it of the error of its ways, I shall bung some pics here on my paperclip-trick!

Maenoferren

I Picked it up tonight to varnish the transfers in place and the right hand number on the fuselage has fallen off, again! >:(

Have you tried sealing the transfer on? I always do this...once you've got them in place & have dabbed off the excess moisture, take some PVA & dilute it 50:50 with water - brush this over the transfer & let it dry well (at least overnight, 24 hrs is better) - this will seal it in place as well as masking some of the raised nature of the transfer...there are  other methods (which, to be fair, blend the transfer almost entirely) but these are much more expensive!

Maenoferren

I got her based, banking left to better see those dinosaurs below. I also got a number of bases done for terrain bits. 2 wooded knolls, a large (welll cd sized) rough terrain along with a smaller base complete with skull statue and standing stones. I will have to do another game write up too :D

Dinosaurs - they still need something doing to them, something not quite right, but not sure what, maybe shading??

Blaker

Looking very good Maenoferren!

What figures are you using for your hunting parties?

Maenoferren

Hi Blaker,
I have the following from Pendraken:
BW24 dismounted foot slouch hat
GEA1 Early Askari troops
SV19 armed sailors for my tramp steamer
NEA4 Native porters
ME27 Phoenix scout aircraft  (with the radiator removed :-[ )

I also got  some Masai as well as various vehicles.
I got some Barbarians for cavemen, however they tower above the other figures. The same was true of the other fantasy range I got, the ponies are the size of cart horses, and the fantasy tigers are huge, but they will become smilodon, so no worries there. This isnt a criticism at all about the size,The figures themselves are really nice. only knackers like me are likely to mix up fantasy, world war 1 and 2, Boer war and anything else I can get hold of.  I will just have to have massive cavemen :)
The figures painted are Magister Militum I think. My wife bought me the dinosaurs fo a present, and a mate gave me some first world war infantry which I painted up in non uniform colours, just so that I could have a game really. I am preparing for the 1st September so that I can have a bash at the figures mentioned above.

Some good stuff there - I think your dinos would benefit from a wash to give a bit of depth...looking great though  8)

Finally got the camera sorted so some quick pics re mounting aircraft - some of these are blurry...but might make my earlier post make sense!

Maenoferren

Thanks for the images and comments NIk. I found some thickish wire cnapped it and put one end in a triangle, this I glued to the base, then covered it in filler. ONce this had dried, I drilled a hole in the plane, and superglued it to the wire at the jaunty angle of my choice  :D
WHat colour do you think to wash the dinosaus,  blue? My other ones were done in Devlan mud I think .
Sometimes I wonder - why is that frisbee geting bigger - and then it hits me!

nikharwood

I think Devlan Mud might be a bit too dark / harsh for the blue/red scheme- unless you really dilute it first...I'd be tempted to go with a lighter tone - although I'd probably stick with a brown though, avoiding specific colours unless you're happy to spot-wash the two colours you've got?

I reckon you wouldn't got far wrong with a 'magic' wash on these y'know...

Maenoferren

I just remembered I have a Zepplin part built in the loft.... it will fit 10mm beautifully....yey! :D
