Yes, but at least he'll be awake at three o'clock in the morning - although he probably won't hear you cry out through the headphones. (Now who's resorting to stereotypes.... )

Actually he made me a cup of tea at 3 this morning.  His computer fan was going loopy because it was on a virus scan, so he had opened all the windows, and was now too cold to sleep!
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Yep.....Keep it right away from the rest of us !

Seriously though.....I think it's an excellent idea to share 'things like this'......As a society (?) we've brushed certain aspects 'under the table'.....Shouldn't talk about that sort of thing in polite company, old man (Sorry !  ;D ;D ;D ;D ).

Before....Folk were kept 'in the dark'......Which, to my mind, is far worse than useless.....Nowadays we've grown up a bit (Oh, OK... I haven't) and don't feel dreadful about sharing what are, and were, somewhat 'embarrassing' experiences....... and I'm sure that helps 'lots'.

Hope that makes sense ! ;)

Best wishes to both - Phil

Sounds a bit as if you got a problem that you want to talk about but don't really dare to see the doctor about Phil..?
Come on then, out with it! :D

No Rob....Not at all  ;) ;D

I was tested for prostate cancer..(Five years ago, now ?)..with all the potentially embarrassing 'things' that they do to you....Which I've mentioned on the forum before.
Optic fibre camera pushed into the bladder from (ahem) 'one part of the body'.......And on a different day......Samples taken from the prostate via a different route !  ;D ;D ;D

It would have helped me enormously to have talked through the procedures with someone who had already been through the different 'examinations'.  ;)
Basically because, when you don't know about something like this......Your mind makes it potentially thousands of times worse/more embarrassing than it truly is.

I was the first of four chaps for the second procedure when they take a biopsy to check for anything 'bad'.
Once it had been done, it was a case of "Is that it ?......You've finished, have you ?"......."Yep".....

"Brilliant !......I'll lie, and tell the others how AWFUL that was." (It wasn't.....Not something that you'd rush back to have done on a weekly basis.....But not something to fear at all if you ever had to go through it again !)

I was told that if I said it was awful......they'd kick the poop out of me.....So I didn't !  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Cheers - Phil

The thing is I don't have any one to speak to.  I had to have it done because my foreskin has always been too tight - I was quite old when I found it is supposed to go down!  My wife doesn't understand the psychological impact this is having

That's the worst thing, I reckon.
Can't talk to anyone........Because it's something "Not to be talked about."
I think, as a society, we're getting better, as subjects such as this, are not quite so 'taboo'...We're starting to 'grow up' and get away from 'Victorian attitudes.'

I still don't want to see any pictures though ! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hope you're doing well LH.

Best wishes - Phil

When I was a kid, I sat on a knitting needle. It perforated my bowel and the consequent leakage stopped the wound from healing. It took 6 years for them to find and fix the problem. Now, they'd whack me in a scanner and that'd be that. Ended up with a series of operations including a tube that went through my body front to back and every day they'd pull it through a little bit and cut the end off and a course of lying with my bare bum exposed to a sunlamp. For 2 years I had a colostomy.

Unfortunately, I was an interesting case, so for a couple of years I was regularly dragged back in to hospital whilst a succession of students took turns inserting their fingers in my backside.

You know, not one of them offered to buy me dinner.

Slut.

My dad had an operation done twice (it might have been vasectomy) because they wanted to show the student doctors both ways!

I'll tell you what, though, I'm never having this done again.

Quite agree, Phil. When I was diagnosed with angina and told I would need a stent I was lucky in that a work colleague had had the procedure done a few years before. He was able to sit me down and say "this is what will happen, it's a piece of cake, the most pain you will feel is the prick of the anaesthetic needle going in". That banished any anxieties I may have had. And he was right - the worst part of the entire business was the recovery period, three hours of staring at the ceiling.

It was her that got me to go to the docs. Its the lack of understanding: I think its one of those things a member of opposite sex can never understand. :'(

Next time you come back from the Docs tell her the doctor has said that you need a daily B.... job  for the next two weeks to aid the healing process.  :d
