Hi, MissM. Welcome to the forum. It's always nice to get the gen straight from the organisers.  :-bd

Thanks for the welcome folks. I'm a bit of a dabbler so don't really have a main period. I've got a team of Amazons for Blood Bowl, a warband of Sisters of Sigmar for Mordheim, a fleet for A Call to Arms when it's Babylon 5 :) I've been building a Warhammer Fantasy army based on snotlings for like forever, and recently got into X-Wing. I'm mostly one of those pesky roleplayers who buys the miniatures for gaming and painting.  :D Plus I run BattleCry and help run a bunch of other events locally in Auckland, and know a lot of the groups and clubs. *waves hello*

What on Earth is a "snotling"? Is is a 13 year old school boy?

I play a lot of small scale military games which border on RPGs. Many a hour of fun can be had with a few gunfighters in the old West (the absolute terror of having to roll to get your Le Mat revolver loaded before the twerp with a Bowie can reach you) Viking raids are another favourite (can Edgar rescue Mabel, his favourite pig from the greedy Norsemen?) and WWII offers a host of opportunities (Keep the RAF technician alive whilst he's dismantling the radar).

I think the chaps on this forum constitute a wide spectrum of taste and ability, who all congregate to kneel at the altar of Pendraken.

A snotling is the bottom end of the GW goblin/ orc continuum ... as any fule kno :)

Oh! Thanks.

I'm sorry, I eschewed fantasy after a particularly deep bout of Tunnels and Trolls in the '80s. I'm not free, but I can control myself, and haven't bought an elf for 29 years. I take it day by day, and as long as I stay away from Peter Jackson films I'm OK. But it's still there y'know, and I have small slips. I watched the Jason Momoa "Conan" film, and I know I've got some of the Conan books stashed away. That was hard. Had to watch some real hardcore films "Attack!" and "9 Men" and "A Hill in Korea", and look through gritty tank pictures until I felt better.

But it's there if I want it. Just a few clicks away from the Churchill Crocodile is the Deadly Pudding, it would be easy to slip from the Afrika Korps to the Sand Orcs. It's there all the time. As I'm painting a Centaur tank there's a little voice inside of me saying "wouldn't that be better with four legs and a bow?", and I'm scared that one day I'm just going to give in and buy myself some elves and orcs and cute little dwarves.

It's not easy. I just take one day at a time. One day at a time.

:) Yes, they are small and rather cute. I have a rather large collection of unique snotlings and I've been modifying a bunch so they can be in disguise. Eventually they will be photo worthy but not yet...  :D
