I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Yaks.  You need yaks.

Stop Yakking!! :D

Were the Mongols as freindly with their Yaks as our Welsh cousins are allegedly as freindly to thier sheep.   :D

There is a story behind that.  Easter my brother was staying, and me him and #1 son was watching BBC News Channel on Sunday morning.  They have a half hour slot called "Our World" and that week it was Mongolia.

It starts with the presenter in a yurt.  The family are eating camel stew with camel sausages.  They then go outside to herd the camels.  Mongolia basically makes the Moon look hospitable - a flat rocky plain covered in rocks.

Cut to Ulaan Bantor.  Mongolia has basically gone Stalinist rather than Maoist.  It has huge boulevards, squares and plazas, dominated by a 'People's palace' (looking sort of like Milton Keynes).  However it is MINUS 26'c, so the place is deserted, except for the Guards- looking rather natty in their blue with red uniforms (think Gok Wan does Star Trek).  Reporter explains how they have the largest deposit in the world of some mineral (bauxite I think).  Cut to open cast mine.  It has already cost some UK-Aussie company $50bn, but should be worth $13bn pa for at least 50 years.

Cut to old couple in shack.  Explanation that the government is basically redistributing the wealth and giving the population $500 or such.  Interview with old couple about what this means.  Then comes the killer quote.

Husband says wife was very upset when favourite Yak died.
Wife "I cried until there were no more tears" (for her favourite yak)

HOWEVER not every one is happy.

Cut to interview with man who is upset about the damage to the countryside by open cast mining. We are all going 'But its a great rocky plain of eff all!  All an open cast mine is, is the same landscape, just lower!  Its the only interesting thing between here and the horizon!'

How is this brave dissident registering his protest.  Through the medium of rap.  Yes, gentlemen, a Mongolian rapper.

Cut to recording studio.  Man rapping (in Mongolian) while reporter stands outside sound booth, nodding along, hand on chin, with a thoughtful expression.

Cut to family herding sheep with voice over about how everyone is still poor.

One sheep tries to run off.  It appears the traditional Mongolian way to herd sheep is to throw rocks if they try to run off.

Man picks up sheep, puts across body of motorcycle he is herding sheep on, and rides off into the distance - despite the fact that nothing can be seen for dozens of miles, except rocks.

And Ghengis Khan wanted to conquer the world. Can you imagine how we would be if he'd succeeded?  :'( :'( :'(
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

Like all so called rulers they never really succeed...I think if they had got to Britain then they would still be here drinking tea watching footy on a Saturday and  organising slightly more vicious gymkhana's
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Maybe not quite as much as we imagine !  ;)
Always thought of Thelwell's ponies as evil little b*ggers.

I had a mental image of some pre-pubescent Valkyrie in a hard hat, pigtails flying, on a fat, nasty looking pony, hurdling a hedge, leading Ghengis and his hordes ;D
