Looking again it had the same look as some stuff I have washed in he Vallejo black  shade wash
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Ok - I'll put you out of your misery  ;) :)

Everything Vallejo...

Bases: Beasty Brown => Leather Brown => Plague Brown
Overbrush everything: Beasty Brown

Squigs: Scar Red => Blood Red => Fiery Orange; Spines / Fangs: Bone White

Trolls: Flesh: Leather Brown => Bone White; Clubs: Plague Brown; Metal: Shining Gold, Mithril Silver

Wolves: Leather Brown => Plague Brown => Bone White

Goblins: Flesh: Fieldgrau => Camo Green; Cloth: Cold Grey, Plague Brown; Wood: Plague Brown; Metal: Shining Gold, Mithril Silver

Then...ta daa (I cheated - mostly because these nasty little green feckers have been taunting me to paint them for a year now....b@$tards!):

Wilko's 5 Year Woodstain: Rustic Oak (Satin) - brushed on to everything (undiluted)

Bases: superglued static grass, drybrush Bone White & then Plague Brown; base edges: Flat Earth
Spray varnish: Army Painter Matt

Done - simples  8)

Ta for that

I have used B&G  stain varnish on 10mm before...maybe the wilko stuff is thinner but the B&Q stuff comes out quite gloopy on 10mm

Have now managed to finally post this on the right thread...not sure what gloopy stain and top totty have in common...oh wait  :-[

It is quite gloopy, but if you brush it on carefully, it's fine  :)
