I will stand, or I will fall. But I will not sit.

As much as we need a load of 10mm Sci-Fi stuff (thats a hint Leon), at those prices I'll continue buying clicky stuff on E-Bay and rebasing it. Sorry Hawk, no sale.

Those Sirens look nice, too.  Female troopers in 10mm are pretty rare, so it's nice to see those.  (Consider that another hint, Leon.)

Seen them and not impressed by the quality. Vaule for money? Not for me...or maybe I am just to spoilt by Leon and Dave here...

My reasoning is: If I pay that much for a "clump of resin" I expect the parts to be cleaned, fitting and well thought...
Putting a tank up by left and right hallf is not my thing.

The design is cool, true enough the quality definately not what I am expecting at that price. At half that we could discuss it but...nah

Rubicon

As others have said the kit is nice, but I certainly won't be getting any - not at those prices...!!

sebigboss79

IF the tanks were not 2 half sides and the casting quaility making the parts fit - why not? The design ain`t the problem but the attitude "I will not sell my marvelous miniatures at a loss".
My reply would be "your loss if you don`t want my money."

I guess before long we will see different prices ..reminds me of Rackham and AT43..stuff sold like mad at 30 % Retail.... just saying.

Im surprised to say you think they arent good quality? What pics have you seen to suggest this. I was able to see them at Salute, and they looked really well sculpted and cast to me. Any online pics or links that I am missing?

Also this looks interesting- very different material to Finecast then!

Seen the pics on gw-fanworld. The tanks clearly have a fitting problem.

But lets assume there are no issues in the actual production models they are still overpriced.

This pic?

It looks Ok to me. Or am I missing something?
Not defending their pricing as it looks high, but having seen the models in the flesh I was very impressed.

EDIT: Pic embedded.

Sandinista

I assume they have done their research and believe there is a market for the range. Good luck to them, brings more people into the 10mm world.

Leon

I've just been looking again, and it certainly registers high on the 'Shiny' factor.   :D
www.pendraken.co.uk - Now home to over 10,000 products, including nearly 5000 items for 10mm wargaming, plus MDF bases, Battlescale buildings, I-94 decals, Litko Gaming Aids, Militia Miniatures, Raiden Miniatures 1/285th aircraft, Red Vectors MDF products, Vallejo paints, Tiny Tin Troops flags and much, much more!

Techno

Just to pop my two p worth in here chaps...
From the look of what I've seen.... the straight line work has been done using a relatively expensive method, meaning that the firm concerned is going to have had to pay out a really hefty old whack in just designer costs before even putting these 'bits' into production.
(Looks like they were made by one of two people I know of, that do this sort of work.)

Soooooo......The firm itself has to recoup this cost, by either selling at a high price....Or hoping that they'll sell absolute 'wodges'....in which case they could risk a lower price.....Either way it would be possible to come 'unstuck'.

Too pricey.....And people won't buy....Too inexpensive and they could still find they don't get back just the initial design costs....and basically lose money on each item.
It really comes down to a careful balancing act, as it is with virtually any business.

You pay your money and you takes your choice, to a certain extent.

Without hoping to sound like "What I've done in the past".....Again....(Sorry).....I made a lot of the clicky based 'mechs' for Wizkids many years ago.....I got paid LOTS for doing those....BUT.... because they sold in their tens of thousands (?) they could be sold for what seemed to be to me, a very low price.
They were shipped back and forth to America.....To China...Produced.....Painted....Shipped back and forth again....Boxed up...and finally sold.....Along with 'tanks' and little stands of figures....For around £8 ? (Hah !....I've still got the complete sets of the first two 'editions/releases'....I should put those up on e-bay !) ;D ;D ;D

If a small firm/medium was faced with the set up costs like that....They'd go under in next to no time..(Unless they had a friendly bank or backer, who didn't mind waiting for years to get some sort of return...and ARE there any friendly banks nowadays ?)....OR have to charge a bit of a premium.
Like I say....It's a very difficult 'balancing act'.
What's right...and what's wrong ? :-\ :-\ :-\

But as Sandanista says....If it brings more people into the 10mm world...Great !!

Cheers - Phil.

Nope but you can still see the "half" in that pic. This also means the two halves don`t fit 100 % - not good.

@Leon: The owner designed it all by himself but you are right. Where is a "fair" price?

For me the value is not good enough to justify the price. Others may see it different.
I will stick to other games and mini makers. One faction has a bit of an "Aliens" look and I would have bought a Dropship or three..maybe when the price has gone down.

New people in 10mm: It will happen Leon. As I said before: 28mm in the current financial situation is only good for skirmish. Massed armies will go to 6 and 10mms.

Love these sculpts, loathe high prices. :-q
As Mr cowell says, "Its a no from me"......

AndyT

Maybe the accompanying Dropzone Commander rules will be the deciding factor?

People will buy the miniatures if they like the backstory/fluff, a bit like the GW business model?

Paint it Pink

I like the look of some of the models, but the cost to buy into the game seems quite high to me. OTOH though, compared to wasting money on sex, drugs and rock'n roll, probably pretty fair, all things considered.

I think that launching a new system  and range in these troubled economic times is a very brave thing to do. I wish them luck though, having been there and done that back in the 1990s with OHMU War Machine.
Unlike some people, I feel under no obligation to pretend that only one war-gaming scale is true, and that any others 6mm/10mm/15mm/25mm are mistaken; or that I know better than people themselves what is right for them to use. The point is precisely for all war-gamers to decide for themselves.
