'tis always poor Nobby wot gets the blame.

Every hand raised agin' him; never a kind word nor a charitable crust. They's allus walking by with their noses in the air, won't fink of putting a small coin for poor Nobby, but when they's looking for someone to take out their spite, it's rouse the rabble to chase poor Nobby from his cold resting-place, and greet him with kicks and slaps and hard words.
