I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

To answer my own question on points. Probably, one? As there looks to be a section of track running towards the right of the image and there is a signal just in shot.
Rimmer: "Aliens."

Lister: "Oh God, aliens... Your explanation for anything slightly peculiar is aliens, isn't it?

Rimmer: "Well, we didn't use it all, Lister. Who did?"

Lister: "Rimmer, aliens used our bog roll?"

Sits down with his pint of bitter and packet of KP salted nuts. Takes off his flat cap and strokes his pet whippet.

Says to the hound; "This painting toy figures hobby, there's nowt to it. Science Fiction, Xenos Rampant detachment (Heroic 28mm/32mm size) 24pts: 54.545% painted."

Has a sip of bitter. Pops a salted nut in his mouth. Chews. Then swallows.

Looks the dog in the eye and goes on to say; "It's a d-mn sight easier when't paints are just; Black, Black Grey, Metal-colour (for't base), Black Ink. Thank maker for the film Aliens."

Don't forget rust streaks for the bases too Roy.

A fifth pot a paint. D'yer fink I'm made a money?  ;D

In all honesty (and I will provide photos when I've painted all eleven models of my "Greater Xenomorphs" detachment), the dark, limited palette that I've gone with would possibly not benefit from 'weathering' of the bases. At the mo', the models are dark, but clean looking. Predominately painted in shades of black. But you can tell they've been painted, with at least a couple of slightly-contrasting paint layers. I, also, want them painted ASAP, so they're done. With prep. work, gluing, and painting, today will be the fourth day working on them (periodically). It'll be nice to have something painted that I can field a full force of on the tabletop.

Mine are here, I sneak light blue highlights in before a black highlight.

I had seen the blue method on others and it certainly does look effective. You've, clearly, put in more time and effort painting up yours than I have and they look far better than mine do, I'll admit. Seeing your rust weathering and painted talons is making me think again on if I should paint similar on mine (pick out the teeth, too). I won't go for the blue look, however, as I don't think I could pull it off, if I'm being honest. I can layer paint, but I'm pretty cr-p when it comes to other techniques.

Oh, you make it sound so easy!

QuoteONLY 3 YEARS!!!!!

Well, they were bought in 2011, but yeah, about 3 years ago I based and primed them. And they've been sat there mocking me ever since.

My first Pendraken order was in 2004. And those Roman legionaries are still in their plastic bags*.

And I'm sure there are people here who have older models still unpainted.

As is pretty much everything I've ever ordered. Some have been out, based, under-coated and even painted. But nothing's ever been finished & I get frustrated and un-base them and strip them back to bare metal and re-bag them. What am I doing?
