I've just found out it would be perfectly acceptable for an Irish role play character called Danny Minogue.

I quite like these I've just Google'd (so they're probably Elvish and not Gaelic or some't) Daniél Ó Muineog or Daniélín Ó Muineog

There are a number of famous* people called Minogue.  Most are Australian,  but a couple are 19th century Irish. Your spelling are given as the root.

*I say famous, in as much they are in Wikipedia.

Heck, Wikipedia famous has surely got to mean they'll be more famous than all the 'celebrities' on TV reality shows. [I love filling out the Core4 viewer response surveys for (UK) Channel 4, stating that I've never heard of the celebrities on the shows. Would highly recommend joining Core4 if you'd like to vent your spleen against give constructive criticism on Channel 4's programmes and advertising.] (   Woops, bit of thread derailment there)

Danny Minogue is a terribly tame name for an RPG character.

In my time I have been, among others, the fighter "Armageddon" O'Tahir.

The dwarf, Gorm the Less who had two magic rings, one through his nose and the other worn as a Prince Albert.

The fire mage, Rogan Josh ... who was hot stuff!

The beggar bard, Gimmy O'Coin

And then there was the pack donkey called Hoaty. Donkey Hoaty. Geddit? .... please yourselves

But a bit much for Call of Cthulu

I have never recovered from the Doctor Who RPG where one of the player characters screw drivered an Ice Warrior to death. It was the same guy who murdered three baby trolls in the Middle Earth RPG

My equivalent is the ruination of a scenario when the grand entrance of a powerful vampire, who would be the focus of the scenario, prompted the halfling thief, who was hammering wooden wedges under a door to stop it closing behind the party, announced he was attacking the vampire.

I told the player his character needed to prepare a weapon. He replied that he had a hammer and a stake in his hands. Foolishly, I told him the thief had a 1% chance of success.

So, inevitably, he rolled 01 - an automatic critical.

OK, roll the critical, says I. Expecting some minor additional damage to the vampire.

13 - Your heart is pierced, you are quite dead!

Staked through the heart. Gimme a moment while I re-adjust my scenario

Very early in the same campaign I only had one scenario at a time prepared. One evening the party decided to go off in entirely the wrong direction.

Despite clues dropped by random NPCs they continued on. In frustration I dropped a giant block into the middle of the road inscribed with the words,"You are going the wrong way!"

The players consulted their character sheets and decided that, since none of their character could read  they would take this as a sign of divine approval of their current course.

As a result, I'd have 3 or 4 scenario hooks and outlines prepared for every session thereafter.
