A fixture of Saturdays during the Winter watching a real mix of sports. A great innings too.

I really used to love it when, in the winter, it snowed & snowed & snowed and the horseracing was "called off" - because then they'd have to fill the otherwise empty slots in the World of Sport schedule with other stuff such as gridiron football, downhill skiing and other weird & wonderful sports.
Guess who's not a fan of horseracing...

Do you remember the log rolling?

My favourites were Rally Cross and the Wrestling.

I've no recollection of log rolling at all. That's a shame.
I did like the wrestling though. Who didn't cheer along for Big Daddy?

Kendo Nagasaki and the ongoing efforts to unmask him ;D . We loved it as kids and even tried some of the wrestling moves such as the 'Full Nelson' IIRC? I remember the log rolling and other lumberjack related stuff too.

And some wrestlers went on to bigger/better things. Brian Glover and Pat Roach for example...

Oh for the days of my youth when Kendo Nagasaki was a plausible Japanese name

That's sad to hear.  I remember seeing a BBC doc about him when he retired and it showed the extraordinary amount of preparation that he put into every game he commented on.  It was something like an A2 sized board with the team sheet, subs, previous results between the two teams, trivia about both clubs, interesting stats on each player, all sorts of stuff.  And then he'd tick things off during the commentary so that he didn't say the same thing twice.
