Clue: it is a very famous iconic modern anti-war war film
I hinted - the war was never declared as a war - but not many are post WWII - and yes it was shellfish Ithoriel. A General offers them to a Captain near the beginning of the film.

Ah yes.  What I call a beer and curry film.  When my wife visits one of her sisters, something I avoid if I possibly can, and the coven is convened, I order in a curry, chill a beer and watch a film with lot of gratuitous violence and not much else.  Anything with Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, that kind of thing.

I have heard Predator described as the "greatest B movie ever made", which sums it up perfectly, I think.
