It doesn't look like much progress but I got all of the sanding done today and then started the cutting-in on the paintwork.  With the exposed beams there's a whole lot of edges to paint!  Tomorrow I'll get at least two block coats on and maybe a 2nd cutting in before we give it a final coat on Wednesday.

Over at the old unit the painting team cracked on at a hell of a pace and got the whole unit repainted white in one day!  Puts my efforts to shame a bit...  With that done we can do the glossing on Tues, paint the floor on Wed, replace the strip lights on Thurs... and hand the keys back on Friday!

And finally we got another 40 orders packaged and posted out so the outstanding pile is getting smaller!

Leon,
How about a picture of the metal storage.  How much do you keep on hand?

The metal is stored on each station so there isn't really a central point for it.  We don't keep a large amount on site either, there's a delivery at the start of each month and we soon go through it.

If only!  I might do once we get the other unit finished and handed back, but at the moment there's too many thoughts and impending deadlines for decent sleep.

Just in time logistics then ?

Basically!  We've had bulk deliveries in the past if we think that the prices are due to go up suddenly, but it's a big outlay in one go.

How about putting out a Lead recycling bin at the stall when shows start again. Say you will donate £1 to Help for heroes for every Kilo collected. or give a raffle ticket for each kilo and at 50 KG pull a ticket from the hat for a free army pack.

I have given a load of lead figures to be recycled by a trader friend over the years.  He mixes a little at a time into his melting pot .

My understanding is that the paint, varnish and glue would contaminate the melt. In otherwords it's not reallyn usable. Good idea though.

Leon wouldn't use 'second hand' metal....Good for him. :)

Otherwise I'd send all the 'used'/surplus to requirements stuff that ends up sitting on my desk, back to him.

It wouldn't be worth it.....It would cost more in postage, than the value of the white metal.
I'm afraid I 'bin' oodles of figures. :P

I could have probably lined the whole of Techno Towers a few times over with the figures I've got rid of.

Cheers - Phil :)

We've already got one, Ian.  ;D

I'm sure I've mentioned this before.

In what is laughingly called the 'garden'/lawn  ;D ;D ;D.....There's a tank that's so frigging enormous you could genuinely build a nuclear fallout bunker without too much effort.

Personally.....I wouldn't want to drown myself in that, as it stands, at the mo'......Poo...what a stinker. :-&
When we've had it emptied, in the past......Though never, ever emptied remotely fully......The 'stuff' that's floated up to the surface.....You really don't want to know.

I'm fairly certain that none of the 'remains' that have floated to the surface have been anything other than 'animal'.

I've never called the equivalent of CSI.

Cheers - Phil :)
