Life seems to be a bit of a b*gger at the mo'. =)

As far as the BIL is concerned, I'll be happy for him when the end comes, rather than sad.

Ah, well.

Just heard......The BIL died late last night/very early this morning.

Feel sorry for the niece & nephew.....But happy for Rob. At least he's not in pain anymore..

Sorry to hear that, both. My uncle passed a little over a year ago after a long struggle with cancer. It's hard on everyone, especially as it nears the end.  :(

My condolences, Phil. As you say, some comfort can be had knowing he is now at peace.

Also, Alexander, best wishes for a complete recovery for your sister.

My brother, who had cerebral palsy, died of liver cancer aged 50 largely because various doctors missed the proper diagnosis because of his condition. Though I miss him it is some comfort to know that his Civil Service job allowed him to live independently, that his car gave him mobility and that he packed far more into his 50 years than I have into 67!

Dad had bladder cancer severe enough to require the removal of his bladder but he survived for just over a decade and a half until taken down by alzheimer's, dementia and repeated infections a couple of years ago.

Mum has alzheimer's and is in residential care, she was diagnosed with terminal cancer just before Christmas. Woody Allan is supposed to have said,"I don't mind dying, I just don't want to be there when it happens." Given that her mental decline seems faster than the cancer, Mum may achieve that. :(

None of which detracts from the losses FK and Phil have suffered. Commiserations to all affected.

I suspect that many on this forum are of an age where such stories are  increasingly commonplace. Which gives me pause to consider what my own end may bring.

To end on a more upbeat note, got my Covid jab yesterday. Apart from a very slight ache in my upper arm if I move it in certain ways I've had no adverse reactions. I think time taken trundling in and out of the Conference Centre was almost as long as the journeys to and from the place and the time getting the jab combined! The banter with the staff made the whole thing pretty painless.

That reassures me a great deal - mine is at 16:53 today.  :)

Well the past few days we have had weather that has been almost Spring like, with the sun having enough warmth to be able to sit outside and enjoy it :).

We've had a couple of NZ people ask about stocking in the past but the shipping costs make it unviable for them unfortunately.  By the time they've paid to get the stuff into the country there's no margin left for them.

It's weird how some jabs 'hurt' (sore arm effect) and others don't.

I have a B12 jab every 12 weeks....Nursey always says "This might sting a bit".....It never does....Ditto the flu jab.
Only one I've had 'recently' that gave me an aching arm was a pneumonia jab.

That DID give me a sore aching arm.....and also a slight fever for a couple of hours....But I'd been warned about that.
