Midnight last night I was woken by the sound of someone making noise down our street. Looking out of the window I saw it was a Wessex Water man with his hearing rod checking the water points! They've done it recently but why now at midnight :- :- :-!

Great news Phil, glad it went well.

Because it's often too noisy during the day to pinpoint problems.

Good stuff, Techno.

Did I tell you that a colleague's 103 year old mother talks to her on Skype almost daily, but seems to think it's like a moving picture rather than the actual person?

Interesting as we're on a quiet residential street with little through traffic, other than during the school run etc.

A friend's gran had the opposite problem. She needed a steady trickle of new TVs because she'd poured a nice cup of tea for "that man who lives in the box and tells me the news" into the back of the TV!!

A tiny bit of normality in these very strange times.....

Actually got to see Von's Mum at the 'home', yesterday.....Must have been six and a half months since I saw her.....About six months from when Von last saw her.

Nice to see she was looking pretty good.....And she hadn't forgotten who we were. :)....Only confusion was why we weren't allowed to get any closer, but she seemed to take in there was a 'horrid bug' 'doing the rounds !

That care home has done all the residents proud !!

Cheers - Phil

Thats good news Phil.

At least she din't wonder why Von was still seeing "that skinny young man with the long hair"

Just seen pics of the flash flooding that has hit parts of Wales today, as a result of the thunderstorms. Hope all has been OK your way Phil and anyone else living there and of course other parts of the UK that might have been affected. Bl**dy humid here and some light rain falling, but nothing to break the oppressive heat!

Great to hear the visit went so well Phil :-bd

Hope you've not been flooded

First of all, thanks all re the visit to Von's Mum. :) It was good to see her again and know she's well. :-bd

I'd have plonked out something sooner, but I had the wifi disconnected from the PC from about 10 yesterday morning, for virtually all day, because of all the thunder & lightning that was about ....it just went on and on and on......Talk about dark skies....Black as night for a good few hours....with a nice strobe effect. ;)

Thanks, Steve.....We did have a short spell (half an hour, maybe an hour,) when the rain came down like stair rods.  (unbelievable !!).....If folk had that sort of level for a longer period, I can understand the flash flooding. As we're on a 'slope' the rain tends to rush down the drive....into the road and then down the track almost opposite.... this almost becomes a culvert to the bottom of the 'valley'.

Not sure whether we're due more of that today. X_X...We were expecting more last night (wifi disconnected again overnight..just in case !)

Like Steve says, hope nobody suffered from any problems yesterday.

Cheers - Phil :)

Only one ferry docked outside yesterday. The only storm I saw came at about 17:00, at same time the web phone software crashed - it's call storm.  :D

By God it's been very hot AND humid today. I honestly can't remember when we had a period of weather such as this in the UK. Can't wait for it to cool down so we can all get some sleep!

As the ultimate ectomorph....I am actually struggling today, Steve....Know what you mean.

It's horrid.
