I did find some 220 plastic Infantry (FOW stuff) lurking in an odd corner, I might just start painting those and buy some metal tanks/vehicles from QRF (its only £1 dearer tham Pendraken) I just cant do these fiddly 15mm tank kits.

I think there are only two excuses for a wargamer not to have a mountain: youth when starting out and age when nearing the Zimmer frame.  My mountain started in the 1980s when I was buying figures and assembling armies but then went abroad for work; I still have some of those figures to finish.  Having retired I want to finish all the outstanding projects in the first two years after retirement so I get time to enjoy using them before physical deterioration kicks in.   :'(

Then again you need to have a forward looking project to keep yourself with a positive attitude: so definitely DO IT.  I'm moving into 10mm for my new experience!  :D

Well, the dastardly Huns have arrived, yay, along with the "Coarse" sand, you really call this stuff Coarse? I guarentee that following my normal basing method, glued down with PVA, sealed with watered down PVA, flood with well thinned Mahogany Brown, wet brushed with Tan Earth, dry brushed with Iraqi Sand, any trace of texture will have disappeared. Well these filthy Huns only want to fight on ground where they won break their high heels, obviously. This stuff is like dust Leon, please have a word with the web guru and change the description fron rough grouind to well rolled bowling green. Apart from that what the hell happened to the Pz IV, what madness is this, glueing on tracks and gunbarrels? I liked my old tip them out spot of glue fr the turret, and yer done Pendraken minis.

So happy that I have summat to paint now, so now I can procrastinate p-rofessionally, Urmmm, cant paint the weather isnt nice/humidity is too high/ theres a 'Y' in the day.

Good to hear that the package has arrived safely, that's great news.  I'll send you some of the Fine sand if you like, that stuff is really like powder!

So when the package arrives it has been through the mail system; what procedures should be adopted to deal with the potential virus risk?  Should it be left unopened for a period of time and if so for how long?

Mix in some coffee grounds. Unless you're drinking Turkish, that'll give you a grainier teexture.

You can if you wish but I don't think there's much risk there.  The package itself will have been through a variety of machines/vans for about 48 hours by the time it reaches you and I'd assume that most of the postal workers are wearing gloves.  Prior to that, our packaging team are all wearing gloves and the figures would probably have been cast the day before being posted, so there's another 24 hours for any potential bugs to have died off.  You could leave the package on the side for an extra day if you wanted, just to be sure, but I think the risks are extremely minimal by that point.

The Pendraken team are definitely low risk but the Royal Mail staff, although not in the front line like the NHS staff, might be considered as rear area support staff.  They have to deal with packaging from everywhere and as I understand it the virus is likely to be transferred through airborne molecules as much as touch; therefore they could be hanging around on the packaging.  I am thinking of wearing gloves and cutting off the exterior of the package for discarding to reduce the threat but then again I get mail everyday and risk the surface of the envelopes being contaminated so feel very unsure about what approach to take.

Orcs

My step daughter is a teacher and they deep cleaned their school. They were told that the virus hands around on hard surfaces for up to 3 days, less on wood and only a few hours on clothing.

We are leaving our mail for 24 hours before opening ,then making sure we wash our hands after opening it. we don't have an option of picking it up initially as often the postie will leave it outside the door. ring the door bell and wait a few meters away to ensure we collect it.

Use of gloves gives a false sense of security, as you are likely to touch the outside of the glove on removing them. Just make sure you wash your hands thoroughly

Smoking gun

We quarantine our mail for 3 days before opening it.

Best wishes,
Martin
Now they've knocked me down and taken it, that still hot and smoking gun.

Asking around there seems an even split between one and three days!  Packages seem to be on a three-day leash.

We've been rather careless with my fiancee. Been opening packages coming from china(wish) left and right without any measures taken.

But the Post office decided to send my pendraken order back to Leon saying it hadn't been claimed. Those bastards.
