Indeed ... my aim longer term is to become unhuman ... but that will probably take some doing  :o

Thanks Mark - this is v helpful rules clarity ..

We didn't realise that 'Smoke ' in the Opp Fire rule could mean both "Smoke" or "Generate Smoke" Special Abilities, or "Generating Smoke " AFV rule. Glad I asked. Now we know.

Its the fact that the Opp Fire rules refer to "..see Special Abilities .." that threw us.

An aside note -
Given your comments, I rather feel I need to defend asking multiple questions here -
A strange position, when clearly the intention of the forum is to encourage V4 rules queries (I hope always politely and not contesting answers) for clarifications or to query potential errors and understand any corrections.
As mentioned in reply to Norm - In the first month of v2 release - there were multiple more questions put to Pete than so far have appeared on this forum. A mix of first-timer / novice / experienced gamers asking simple, complex or technical questions.

As background - Our main gaming group has been playing BKC pretty much since v1 came out and are lucky enough to play fairly regularly.
So v v experienced in how the game works up to v2 (ignored v3 when it clearly just didn't work as a ruleset - but that's old news).

Questions to date have not been random, thought about in isolation or out of gaming context/experience.
Nearly all queries so far have been ones we found while testing out how this new version works in game scenarios...and either think there may be an error, or ambiguous wording used - hence seeking clarification.
I've undertaken to address them in a methodical fashion through the rule book - partly as this is a simple way to do it ..plus it helps both our gaming group, our gaming buddies outside the group and others (solo gamers in particular) not to bump multiple issues in the middle of a game.

This Opp Fire smoke query is a good example -
Simply seeking to determine which of the special Smoke Abilities could be used. Don't need scenarios to help with that - just a simple answer to clarify the intention/rule.
The problem is that we have no way of understanding a rule/intention if it is ambiguously written.
We can try and come up with our own interpretation - or more helpfully, to avoid differences of view - ask the rule writer here.

Would it have been better if I had asked the same thing in a different way perhaps?...
E.g. No-one in our Group understands the interpretation of Opportunity Fire rule regarding "..Your opponent may also choose to fire Smoke (see Special Abilities on page 76). Tricky when one of the Abilities is actually called 'Smoke'.
Our game scenario BKC experience doesn't give us the insight into this new rule (not that it should matter).

It didn't even cross minds that Smoke in this context could be generic. Glad to have clarified that now - V helpful - and thank you again.

With regards to the computer games/simulation suggestion. We will leave for now thanks.
Very happy with our BKC wargaming and...as mentioned in reply to Norm - Its clear that V4 is a good build on v2 - I hope you are rightly proud of that!  :)

Thanks again for all the help

A pleasure AJ - I think it is sometimes difficult to generate scenarios that cover every eventuality and unfortunately not enough room to cover many such scenarios in the depth required in a physical rulesbook.

Your questions are indeed systematic and precise ... they can also confuse me, as so much of what is in the rules BKCII and now BKCIV is 2nd nature to those of us who've played the Commander rules for many (many) years and often things that seem blindingly obvious to me/us need interpretation or explanation with an actual gaming situation in mind to cover off, to newer players. My issue is that I do not have enough time to answer a large number of questions - so you (& others) might have to weight occasionally for answers.

The fact that Smoke can refer to almost any type of Smoke, in my own mind seemed logical, but clearly the 'Fury' scenario has helped make things much clearer for all.

If you have a go at the night-time cross-roads defense scenario I'd love to see a write up. I fear the lone Sherman Firefly will probably be KO'd far too quickly.

Many thanks

Mark
