Just wanted to post again just in case I sounded a bit too negative in my previous message!

Mrs T said Phil was fine in himself, just not at all happy about being stuck in hospital. 

I think I'm not divulging too much to say that Phil's got a gammy leg.  Whilst they're managing to alleviate his symptoms, they've not managed to ascertain what's causing the issue - hence all the tests and re-tests.

Whilst I know Phil has my number, I'm not sure Mrs T has access to it, so if Phil doesn't return to our warm and loving embrace by tomorrow evening I'll give them another bell.

I passed on all our best wishes and they were gratefully received.

That's good to hear.  Hopefully the scan will give them some answers and they can turn him loose.

I read that as "jammy leg" and wondered whether it was his eyesight or his unsteady hands that was leading him to miss the toast.

Completely agree with your sentiments, Ithriol. Given the distance, I would be en passant for the mass visit but certainly there in spirit.

OK....This will be fairly brief.....Though I'm back home, I feel absolutely knackered now.

The original CT scan showed that my bladder was massively distended.......I'd put it down to being old age spread around the tum.
First night I was in, I was catheterised and they emptied my bladder of something around 3 litres of wee.

I was kept in for more tests....Another doppler scan...which again showed that there was no sign of any clots......and was kept on a catheter......I don't know how much they ended up draining in total....But my tum has gone back to being flat.
The drawback is that because my bladder is now capable (having been gradually stretched) of holding so much wee, I now have to keep peeing, even if I don't feel the need.
As I can't actually force the wee out, as the bladder is so large, I had two options.

1) A catheter, and a bag, strapped to the leg....which would need emptying when full......and this to be completely 'redone' every three months. This option is apparently the less favoured as it makes 'one' more liable to bladder infections.

So I've gone for option.....

2) Self catheterisation every 3 hours or more (but hopefully not through the night).........So.......Every 3 hours or so I have to slide a single use tube up 'you know where', and into the bladder. drain it into a measure, and make a note of how much wee has come out, so I can report back to the specialist nurse in a couple of weeks. (This is even if I feel I DON'T need a wee at the time.)
Nothing like as bad as you might imagine......You just have to be very careful NOT to let the sterile tube get any dirt on it, so you don't inadvertently introduce infection into the bladder itself.

Apparently I'm gong to be getting boxes full of these tubes delivered each time I start getting low on supplies.

If this works, as intended, my bladder will gradually reduce from its overstretched size and act more normally.
I've got to have an MRI scan , as an outpatient, to check there isn't anything nastily suspicious on the prostate.....Which I'll never be surprised I'll be told would be better to be removed, whatever the outcome....We'll see.

There are a couple of tiny 'ground glass') marks on my lungs which also have to be investigated, to check that they're not pre-cancerous. (Doc didn't sound very worried about though.)
And there are a couple of tiny marks on my liver.....But there was no mention of checking those at the moment.

I've written far more than I intended, for the mo', as I feel so, SO knackered......(two of the nights, I barely got any sleep, because of a couple of other patients were very 'disturbed' (suffering from dementia ?), and were making an awful lot of noise throughout the night.......and I found the hospital bed unbelievably uncomfortable for my back, anyway.

I can't wait to sleep in my own bed tonight.

I wouldn't worry to much about little marks on your lungs. I had 'shadows' on my lungs 40 years ago but I still managed to run marathons and I'm still here today. Do get them checked though.

I've also got 'marks' on my liver (I used to drink like a fish) which got a close inspection while I was opened up for something else. Just a birth mark apparently. Still best to check.

On the plus side all the checks and tests and investigations that I've had over the years have told me that I haven't got lots of other things wrong with me.
