Thanks Bryan, in the pictures they look white and distract a very little from the overall look of the game, which is fantastic.
In photography bright areas like these are referred to as "hot spots" and are a type of distraction...

This is a good point. I think I have a way I can reduce this effect for my next game.

I think cleaning up the edges of the flags would be time well spent; little white lines do rather negate mimesis.
