Well....'Saw' the eclipse by using a crude pin hole camera.

Much better on the TV !  ;D ;D ;D
Better do some work now. :-[

Quite frankly, I.....You didn't miss much.
Lovely clear skies throughout the whole process, here.....
It just went very slightly darker.....A bit like dusk, but nothing significant.

Mart....First one since we've been here, in Mordor...

Thing is.....'They' keep going on about an eclipse in 1999....I still lived in Notts then.....Don't remember that one at all !
Perhaps it was cloudy all day and we missed it.

As the light was getting duller in the lead up to the eclipse, I went outside and could hear the birds singing (presumably they thought it was dusk). Started to feel it getting a little colder (but assumed that was because I wasn't dressed for the Scottish weather - but who knows). Then stood at the kitchen window and, when the sun came out from the clouds (as much as it can during an eclipse!), got a few good images using the pin hole method Phil mentioned. Also had the TV on in the kitchen at the same time so I could watch it when the clouds came back!

So considering we weren't going to get a 100% eclipse and the less than clear sky here in the West of Scotland, not a bad experience. In 1999, I was stuck in an office and yes, you guessed it, it was cloudy on that day also! I think someone mentioned (Dara O'Briein?) the next one is in 2026!
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

My wife is livid. She went to Iceland last year just to see the aurora borealis and got nothing. Now everyone gets to see it but us southerners.  :'( :'( :'(
