Some photos of a load of WW1 a friend picked up at a show, dont know anything more about them except I havent seen them for sale anywhere..nice figures though and easy to paint

If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Hello Fenton

Can't see anywhere where they are for sale. Minifigs have taken over the WW2 Wargames South figures (http://www.miniaturefigurines.co.uk/Catalogue.aspx?ScaleID=1&CategoryID=69&SubCategoryID=324) but I can't see a mention of WW1 there. Don't match up with any other figures I've seen for sale.

Cheers

They do appear to be in the Wargames South chunky style.

Could be magister looked on their website but no picture of later infantry maybe try and find out the show so we can narrow down the traders or was it a bring and buy purchase.
Nice figures and nice paint job.

Great paint-job, Fenton, whatever they are.
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

Thanks

I went with  the idea( I cant remember who first posted the pic of their Boer's) of using Army Painter dip on them, I thinned the dip in a saucer with a little turps then splashed it on as normal

Quick and easy ...they do look a bit better than the photos, but I am crap at photos though and will try to get some better shots sometime once they are properly based

I use Armypainter Quickshade on my Boer War Brits and I'm very happy with the results; actually I used it on my AWI troops too and I use it on my ACW project as well.
Depending on the standard I'm looking for i sometimes touch up the figures afterwards but I find it a very rewarding method in all scales really.
I don't dip it by the way since I find that a waste of paint; just brush it on I'd say.

thanks Rob...yeah I brush it on as well....though I have found after a few experiments I just use a straight Vallejo Khaki for the uniform as English Uniform from Vallejo goes to dark though sometimes I have mixed the two together in various amounts just to get some different shades of cloth effect

Thanks for the uniform tip Fenton.

Just had an E mail from Mr Magister Richard
These figures are not part of their WW1 range so the quest goes on.

Indeed Fenton, you should always keep in mind that it does make your colours somewhat darker.
I also tend to mix colors to get some different shades; I did it mainly on 28mm figures like WW-2 Russians and 28mm ACW Confederates (armies that are notorious when it comes to steady supply and/or manufaturing lines) but it works on all scales really. The more subtle differences are more or less lost I found when using Quickshade though.
