Reckon we'll get more good weather before mid-August.

You may, I just hope we do in an antipodean winter  ;)

Winter...ah, I remember that....sigh....
I don't drink coffee to wake up. I wake up to drink coffee.

I seem to remember a very wet autumn which went on and on and then turned into spring.

Bugger, just looked at long range forecast,  gales this weekend, improving during the week, good on Thursday & Friday then showers next weekend  >:(

Will have to keep checking to see when I can get a varnishing weather window :-SS

Not much progress last night, got dragged out to dinner at a newly opened Philipino eatery. Did manage one coat of paint on the edges of the last of the counters. Did the final coat this morning before heading off for work.

Will glue labels on tonight and cover with clear plastic tomorrow in time for game in the evening. These are write on counters to record suppressions for ITLSU

Will hopefully get a chance to do some basing as well tomorrow

A productive morning before being required as driver / "taken" to late lunch at that same Philippino eatery as a few nights ago

Got all the counters finished and based a German infantry battalion and one artillery battery  :)

Two Hussar Regiments, one mounted, the other dismounted, and another battery of artillery still to be based

A productive afternoon after a late lunch

Two Hussar Regiments, one mounted, the other dismounted, and another battery of artillery based  :) :) :)

Just some tidying up to do on these then they are ready to be varnished, weather permitting :-SS (less than 2 weeks till Call to Arms, only 1 fine day forecast in next 10)

Time for some dinner and then off to a trial game with batches 1 & 2  :D

Just had a re-look at some of the earlier photos. How did you do the shell cases? Back in the late 90s I was able to retrieve a couple from the Ypres salient - reckon they were German as they were in the trenches near Wyteshaete (think that's the spelling?) which have since been tidied up and you now have to pay to go in. All the shell cases have been removed. Wanted to post a photo but realised I didn't have a digital camera until 2006, by which time.........

Shell cases are plastic rod of roughly suitable diameter cut to 3mm lengths painted brass, add a black dot on one end with gel pen, done  ;)

3mm is probably a bit long for scale but any shorter and they don't look "right". Easiest way I have found to paint them is to roll them round with a paint brush in brass paint on my palette which is a small tray so I don't lose any.

German guns and more shell cases  ;) mounted this morning before work.

Will check all the bases and do any final tidy up tonight then hopefully varnish this weekend if forecast accurate  :-SS

Trial game went well on Saturday night, Peter will put up an AAR soon, allegedly with pictures  :)

Another trial game planned for next Saturday night.

Then a full day demo game with all three batches on the next Saturday at Call to Arms followed by a Baltic WWI naval game on the Sunday :D :D
