Marmite every time...but only on cheese in a sarnie or on toast. Tried Bovril once at a football match back in the day...now I know what snozzcumber tastes like, absolutekly disgusterous!

Actually, while on the subject of strange fillings, anyone ever tried cheese and peanut butter -crunchy of course- in a sarnie?

My stepfather was prone to smearing jam on one half of a slice of bread, golden syrup on the other and then folding the two together....  :o

... and then?

Was it just a hobby? Was his house filled with discarded and inedibly sweet butties? Did he use them as poltices for sores on horses? Did he feed to result to starving waifs and orphans and giggle malevolently as their teeth fell out? Was it something of a more ... personal preference?  :-&

Oh, he ate them, of course. Probably explains the ruins of his teeth. Mind you, at ninety I suppose he's entitled to be a bit worn.

Vegemite is my breakfast favourite on toasty soldiers dipped in soft-boiled egg.....

Has anyone ever tasted both Vegemite and Marmite ? (Not together, I hasten to add.) ;)
Are they very similar taste wise ?
Seem to remember 'someone' has said they're almost identical.

My wife eats Vegemite a lot!...I have tried it once, its like eating salt
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Marmite for me, although if given a choice I'd go for Vegemite, it's got a nicer taste to it.

Once saw a bloke at work spread Marmite quite thickly on some toast. He'd never had it before. I told him not to but would he listen? He hasn't eaten it since  :d

Marmite for me, no liquid cow thanks (Vegetarian here). The only way I can eat peanut butter (yuck) is to have it on toast with a nice layer of marmite on as well. There's something about the marmite that makes it edible, and even actually tasty.

Ithoriel

Only way to eat peanut butter is as part of a pbj

That, or stirred into various different sauces when cooking. Which is something I also do with Marmite, or at least Tesco's version of Marmite.

Can't STAND peanut butter......That gets  :-& :-& :-& :-& :-& :-& :-& :-& from me.
Though at least you can bait rat traps with it.

So true: caught three rats that were living under our decking with peanut butter, they can't resist the stuff. ;)

Rat on a stick anyone? :)
