Hi Guys,
I need a little help again, I`m looking for the above painted or un-painted
For a skirmish game I want to do, I just watched `Charlie Wilson War`....and got the bug...
I need about 20 figs of each nationality (i think)
And some rules advice...
thanks guys..... ;)
I use RH Models and really like the figures, same also goes for Elhiem.
Richard
SandS do some nice stuff, and PSC import Chinese 1/72-6th Russian kit. There's also some soft plastic stuff that's usable.

Thanks guys, I will look around.... 8)

Great Thanks for that info,

I got a load of buildings from Tinned Pears on Ebay and love them.

wow, thanks, great....I made a start on my board and 1st building today...
But alas none of the 20mm traders are replying to my emails....so I
will purchase the figures some time soon (i hope)
So to the board..I chose the good wood, cos I have plenty at the moment, (although good) it had a lovely indentation ,that begs for a stream...
or water feature ,lol.
Scored and mixed pva with plaster, dolloped it on and used my best fork to make vehicle tracks...
The building was made from artist board and plastic card for the roof( I chose that because you can sand it down to fit.) Drilled a little hole in it for the lift off peg (cocktail stick)
Next came the Awning prep-print out some in scale stripes and cut match sticks to size.Awning rests on 2 cut down match sticks at the rear.
Fill all holes on building with pva plaster mix- with a little Citadel Bestigor flesh.
Started to make boundary wall out of artist board and pva plaster mix to follow.
Once all walls were dry I applied the roof..with a gentle easing of the blade to ensure a good fit..
Added the assembled awning....not bad I dont think for my first attempt.......
more
Looking good 8)
Thanks nick.... ;)
Looking very good :)

There's also the one from MJ Figures :- http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=269720 (http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=269720) at twice the price though. They have lots of other interesting stuff like weapons etc.

Doh! I was wondering if some sort of hellhound other canine offering would be suitable.
Capitalised "J" on Jackal. I'm such an idiot. As the youf say "facepalm"! :-[
The MJ Figures model is superb - and probably expensive?
Britannia one is nice and not very expensive.
Look on their website they also sell some other stuff for Afghan, I have a large collection of their figures and vehicles.

Sean

Thanks guys, great info, I will contact Britannia...
Dougie website fabulous.... now where is my dog.....
Village update
Looking very good indeed.
I'll second that !! :-bd
Great stuff.
Cheers - Phil
Now just waiting for Bluestone42 to rock up and deal with that IED!
Thanks guys, well the yanks and Afghans ,Russians have arrived at my home, but alas the Brits have still to be ordered...Britannia are so slow....
However its giving me time to build up the village .
I`m going to do some local (Ghana) shanty houses to go with Rh African figs, for a bit of variation....
Once the carpenter brings the good wood...(he did supply me with a nice big pot of PVA today,)
so I`m well happy...
I have just done a new bore hole and the dust from down under my house is a fabulous array of colours...
I`m keeping some for local schools to study......(no gold though).....
My first attempt at shanty build...I need to work on the roof....
Looking good. If it were me I would Use a wash of brown ink (carefully so it doesn't mush) leave it with the cobras out in the sun to dry, highlight dark grey and rust brown on the edges.
:-bd
Think I'd go with Will's thoughts re the roof.
Cheers - Phil
yh your are right I have redone the roof, so the colour is stronger my second shanty is a lot better...
learning on the job...
Glad it worked, sorry to butt in on your great efforts. I've painted a hell of a lot of shantys in my time Marie, the roofs are the worst bit as when you look at real shantys (in my case only in Sri Lanka when I visited or on films/photos), they are all sorts of colours and conditions, but rust and dust is prevalent on the tops.
They really are ubiquitous. Timecast do lovely ones for 15mm that would work well for small 20mm dwellings.
yh your right, I have been working on it, as i`m surrounded by them here in the bush, so hopefully soon, i will get them right
and i moved away from my usual spray black first and printed the shanty walls and roofs out from the net, which ain`t worked to the same effect.....
Yes, you really need the black undercoat to get the depth of shadow.

No disrespect to Marie's talents, nor yet to Timecast's fine products, but
lovely and shanty shacks don't sit easily together.
They do in Aburi.....
Those are brilliant!
Really like them now!
:-bd :-bd =D> =D> <:-P
Looking good, Marie.
Very, aaahh, nice :)
Thanks guys....
I used to go to Offa in Nigeria twice a year and the buildings were 99% made of mud bricks and 99% of the corrugated roofs were rusty and brown. Not visually appealing in reality and certainly not on the wargames table. I think this is a case for some artistic license.
Disaster...has struck the shanty village (in progress) whilst I was out the dogs...attacked the village and ate two houses, destroyed my lovely road sign,
totally wiped out my two storey stone building....my room looked like the H bomb had gone off.....Boy was I mad....
So plan 2.... i`m buying some buildings from iron clad....but I will manage to carry on with my Ghana police station scratch build...
Bloody hell.........
:'(
Bored dogs - one of my sisters pack managed to straighten out a wire whisk.
IanS
more like hungry....that had just returned from morning duties.....lol
That's a bugger Marie :(.
yes to say the least...so now i`m in re-build mode.....szzzzzzzz
Switch to cats.
Having lived with both cats and dogs for more years than I care to remember, I FAR prefer the mutts over the moggies.
The cats have ended up costing far more in damage done around the home than the dogs....(and nearly electrocuted me on one notable occasion)..They've just done it more sneakily. >:( >:( >:(
Cheers - Phil
