I used to go to Offa in Nigeria twice a year and the buildings were 99% made of mud bricks and 99% of the corrugated roofs were rusty and brown. Not visually appealing in reality and certainly not on the wargames table. I think this is a case for some artistic license.

Disaster...has struck the shanty village (in progress) whilst I was out the dogs...attacked the village and ate two houses, destroyed my lovely road sign,
totally wiped out my two storey stone building....my room looked like the H bomb had gone off.....Boy was I mad....
So plan 2.... i`m buying some buildings from iron clad....but I will manage to carry on with my Ghana police station scratch build...
Bloody hell.........

Having lived with both cats and dogs for more years than I care to remember, I FAR prefer the mutts over the moggies.
The cats have ended up costing far more in damage done around the home than the dogs....(and nearly electrocuted me on one notable occasion)..They've just done it more sneakily.  >:( >:( >:(

Cheers - Phil
