Difficult to tell in the light, but they look great to me as they are!

I would dry brush the bottom 1/2" of the wall and the roof with stonegrey, just to weather it down if you really wanted too, otherwise I would be more than happy with that effect. :D

A good thought, that man. I tend to use Deck tan...  :-\

Will think about that, off to run a "Introduction to Digital Photography" workshop for the photography club I'm a member of.

PS apologies for the poor lighting, just a couple of grab shots on my painting desk :-[

I would say that the roofs look a bit spotty at the moment. I'd probably tone them down a little with a dark wash, maybe?

Thanks Hertsblue, I decided to tone down the 'spots' with a dark grey dry brush. For the next batch of buildings I won't use such a wide spread of greys.

mad_lemmy, in the end I decided against the dry brush on the buildings. They are 6mm buildings so I didn't have a "bottom 1/2" of the wall" and there is some variation in tone already. The fences definitely benefit from it

I decided on 6mm buildings as they let you build scenes in the space allowed by the rules and look more like what is being represented than the one 10mm building that would fit in the space.

Below are finished result (still need to be varnished but no wash so no gloss areas)

Two 'Village blocks' (3"x2") which in Wing scale V&B represent a single isolated building or a cluster of smaller outbuildings and may be occupied by a single detachment.

Defended by some of Campbell's Virginia Riflemen

Farmsteads with outbuildings are represented by a single 'town block' (6"x4") and may be occupied by up to two infantry stands.

Defended by Lee's Legion Infantry and some of Campbell's Virginia Riflemen

A 'town block' can also represent a more 'urban' group of buildings. Several 'town blocks' forming a village or town.

Defended by Lee's Legion Infantry and some of Campbell's Virginia Riflemen

Finally Lee's Legion march past...

It's a neat and unobtrusive system and highly ingenious. I hadn't realised the buildings were 6mm either. They don't look small beside the figures.  :-bd

The credit for the removable buildings goes to a fellow gamer, Rhys, he first came up with it a number of years ago. The removable section is 3" square to allow for a Volley & Bayonet massed stand or two linear stands. This is a bonus for us as they work well as 3" square town sectors in Spearhead and Modern Spearhead  :)
