Hello
I'm wondering : how many simultaneous projects are you working on ?
( I mean : painting or actively collecting minis, writing special rules or scenarios, or making terrains & decors ..  if you consider it finished it's not a project no more.)

I'm currently on 4 actives projects.
- I'm always adding some things to our SCW 1936 campaign,
- Launching soon a France 1940 campaign
- Sicily 43 ( 6mm ) ( we will start again the full campaign)
- SBH (28mm)
Other games and periods are "sleeping" but may be reactivated.

How about you ?

Leon

Work-wise, I'm juggling about 15 at the moment!

Only game in 10mm, except for 28mm for LOTR fantasy cub at school

WWII Eastern Front - Soviets done, but Germans to go. Still working on rules, but got scale and ethos worked out. Looking to do German Corps v Soviet Army + assets for both sides

SCW  - regular army to go but most vehicles, Legion, Carlists, Falange, Republicans done. Italians yet to purchase. Still working on rules but got scale and ethos worked out
. Looking to do Div sized games

ECW - About 10 packs of inf, 15 packs cav to go. But still enough to do reasonably sized battle - total of about 8,000 for both sides at moment but could do with more horse and pike. My mate Gareth working on the campaign system - semi-ficticious midlands county - with forces coming in and forces going out depending upon how campaign progresses. Battlefield system we are happy with and able to do 3-4 battles at a show with time in between

WWI Early 1914 - new project - all based - but yet to start - coming down for 1870 square based system but each 10" square 1.5kms. Have 2 German Corps, 1 French Corps, 1 Brit Corps, 1 Belgian Div + assets.

Successor - Alexandrian - use Old Glory - heresy - loosing interest in this one so figures may go to bring & buy at Tunbridge or Salute

1066 - Norse, Saxons and 3/4 Normans done using Neil Thomas's rules. Fun system and fun games but never have time to complete the last 50 bases of Normans

Fantasy Game - All for LOTR type games - figures bought years ago - but still not even based a figures - could be going to bring & buy or big melting pot

ACW - Just doing last 30 bases of dismounted cav/skirmishers then on with Keith Warren's project to adapt our "Stonewall" Jackson/Shenandoah Valley rulers for doing various phases of Gettyburg - borrowing heavily for scenarios from the splendid pc game by Side Maeir and John DZ's recent Gettysburg book. Still reading heavily

League of Augsburg - Got £120-£150 of foot already purchased and read fairly heavily on the period as to essence of the wars - but only based a few bases and await other stuff before pressing on with this project

There are probably others hanging about in a draw somewhere!

Fascinating hobby, 10mm a great scale and Pendraken favourite company!

The problem is, Ronan, that none of my projects is ever considered as "finished". I began painting 15mm Napoleonics in the late seventies, but have added to them consistently over the years. Likewise my SYW 15 mm, the last of which were only painted two years ago.
As far as 10mm figures go, my original Marlburian armies were completed for our club's convention game of 2000, but since then I've added Hanoverians and 26 battalions of Imperials, mainly in batches.

So what would you consider as "current"? Within the last twelve months I've painted 1866 Saxons and Austrians, 1944 Japanese and 14th Army, 1943 Germans and Soviets and a whole shedload of 1:144th aircraft. But that's not to say that other projects and jobs won't intrude in the near future. One of the great pleasures of having multiple periods on the go is that if you get bored with one you can just hop over to another.  :)
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

Current projects are:

  • 20mm 1944 Normandy US Airborne
  • 20mm Afghanistan (Brits/US/Insurgents)
  • 20mm Gulf War 2
  • 15mm Tomorrows War (mainly GZG & Critical Mass)
  • 15mm 100 years war
  • 10mm Falklands
  • 6mm ECW Battle for Adwalton Moor
  • 2mm Crimean

And since joining the 10mm community I've started an interest in [orders being placed this week]:

  • Warmaster 1000pt Dwarf army selected and to be followed by Orc/Goblin army
  • AVBCW - Mungo Shoddy Socialists vs Heavy Woolen Defence Force

I agree, "within twelve months". When you said you did'n't paint an army for 2 years, that's not an "active" project. I hope I explained what I meant.

Yes !  ;)  that's why I tried to focus on less armies at the same time  :-[  (although we sometimes play these "old" armies)

I see most of you are working on many projects !  Leon, do you still find some time to PLAY ?  ;)

Thank you for answering.

It's actually Dave who's the gamer, although he doesn't get much chance to play since starting the business.  He got a couple of games in at our Birthday Bash last year, and he popped down to his friends for a game last weekend.  He lost of course...  ;) :D

So within 12 months eh, i'll rate them from most current to oldest:

- 10mm sale hedges and walling (started these two hours ago!)
- wwII germans for normandy (pendraken)
- wwII british for normandy (pendraken)
- my long going OOP cadian army for 40k
- uruk hai of the white hand for LOTR
- rohirrim for LOTR
- moria goblins for LOTR
- epic 40k imperial army
-epic 40k orc army

And if the order i made with Leon comes through, i'm adding WW2 late war russians and ACW union and confederates.

I'm hoping for battle of hastings or napoleonics this year but still thinking it through  ;)

Maybe some WWI forces for the 100 year anniversery?

PS: What's Dave's favourite period?

Probably FPW I think, although he quite likes the SYW and ECW as well.

I can't tempt you, only advise you.

GO BUY SOME RUSSIANS!

:D :D :D :D :D

Now seriously, i just put togheter a little list for BKC2 that'll give me a quick nice game. Not that many russians. I want to keep to my normandy guys for a BIG force, but as there are too many battles to fight, i decided to do some little side projects, all a few tanks and some infantry, just to have a change of pace in painting, and setting in gaming. Like for 1940 and the north afrika campaign, wich i will game with smaller forces. D-day and market garden have always been my main interest though, so that will be my main focus. I will put stuff for the rest togheter when i feel like it and paint them inbetween the main chaps.

Squirrel

Only four on the go currently, and there's a fair few items on the new 'top ten' list that will help with the 10mm projects 8)
