Look what the Threshold agents have found out in the desert...

Prompted by the arrival this week of Morbid Adventures - the scenario supplement for Strange Aeons - I thought I'd link a couple of scenarios in a nicely corrupted desert village and temple...

Just need to find time to play now!

Lovely stuff as always Nik !

"Nice" looking statues - or are they just statues.

You get good use out of those Kerr and King buildings! Mine have only been on the table once.

And here we go - quick unedited pics from my tablet as my camera seems to be having an identity crisis...

Basically - the three Threshold agents approach the village just before dawn, trying to recce the strength of cult activity; they know that something is afoot and are hoping to head off any ritualistic activity that might awaken the dormant denizen inhabitants of the temple...

Unfortunately for them, the cultists have been alerted to their approach and form the welcome party, opening up immediately as the agents come into view:

A short firefight downs a couple of cultists - but the leader summons reinforcements (of the spectral & undead kind) to the party:

The agents realise that they're outnumbered in the village - and with the arrival of the breaking dawn, rhythmic chanting can be heard from behind them; they turn to hear the dry creaking of ancient doors opening...they beat a retreat from the village and make a mad dash across the sands to investigate, leaving the cultists to complete their ritual summoning:

Advancing towards the colonnade the Agents see the awakened forces of the Pharaoh march into the daylight:

Once more, our intrepid heroes open fire against seemingly overwhelming odds - knowing that they must do what they can to gain time for reinforcements to arrive:

Some outstanding shooting sees off a good number of the skeletal foot soldiers - and the fight becomes up-close and personal - just as a monstrosity appears at the temple gate:

Petrified by this enormous undead construct, our heroes break off and turn tail - sprinting across the sand to the safety of their truck behind the dune: to head back and tell the Professor that the forces of darkness are awakened. The Threshold must consider its next move...

Nice one Nik ;)

What are those crouching big things with the tentacles? they remind me of Ood????

Just set up an AWI Maurice Game to play this evening - gives me an excuse to dig out my old 15mm AWI collection although I have had to rebase a bit :(
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

Awesome!  And it's been ages since I've seen that Giant Mummy on a table!

Now that sir, is a LOT of Cthulhus.

I wonder what the collective noun for a group of Cthulhus is?

Great game by the way Nik.  Lovely looking as ever; the red cultists chaps are fab!

How does Strange Aeons play?

Also, i'm looking at Tomorrow's War and trying to find the right figures.  Pendraken are firmly in the frame of course, but i'm concerned that 10mm might be a bit too small for the skirmish gaming.  Do you find a problem with using the little figures for skirmishing?

Cthulhu mate, Cthulhu - they're actually game markers for the CCG - come in a bag of loads for about £12 or so (if you can find 'em...); I'm likely to repaint these - some in sandstone, some in grey.

I reckon it's a "fecking hell - look at all those scary gribbly hideous feckers, let's get out of here now" of Cthulhus... :D

Strange Aeons plays really nicely - it's nice & simple but with some decent subtlety there as well to tax the old grey cells. It's also designed for campaigning - reminds me a lot of Mordheim in many ways - and nicely contained - the rulebook is beautifully done. A quick search for "Strange Aeons" on this forum will ping you all my SA experiences...

I have no problem with skirmishing in 10mm: main trick is to re-educate your fingers so that you're picking up figures by bases really to avoid damage; I love the fact that a dozen figures will cost almost next-to-nothing & that you can create games from the bits box...It's also superb to be able to play on one end of a coffee table with minimal fuss. Recommended.

Totally agree with Nik, I live in a tiny croft house, i love Skirmish Games, things like my dinosaur hunting etc., now bearing in mind a rifle in the rules will hit something 96 inches away, even at 96cm its a bit of a short game, so yep skirmish games work really well in 10mm.
I use 10mm for role play too  :D
Sometimes I wonder - why is that frisbee geting bigger - and then it hits me!
