Down to an inch or two of snow here now - was around 8 or 9 inches. Wife was down at Irvine on the West Coast yesterday and said it was clear there. Should be able to store the snow shovel away for another year (or two?) now (fingers crossed).

p.s. During the blizzards I decided to "improve" a pre-painted 10mm scale stone bridge by texturing the walls, etc. with fine sand then painting over them. Made a real mess of it!  ~X(   Oh, well, back to the painting table .....  :(
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

All gone here, apart from a couple of heaps 'wot I made' shoveling snow from the drive.

Just back to the 'normal' wet of Wales.

Normal in Bristol now, but still bad in parts of the Cotswolds that has 6' snow drifts over the weekend. Parts of the A46 still partially blocked by snowdrifts.

The last time there was a lot of snow I was at Nantwich market with my sister. Someone had cleared around the outside stalls and made a nice pile of snow, then graced it with a label: Scale model of Mount Everest - £5!

Has been a knock on effect over here.....The supermarkets are starting to struggle with incoming deliveries.
When Von did a 'shop' this morning, she said there were an awful lot of gaps on the shelves......(And not necessarily the stuff that folk tend to panic buy).

They were hoping to get another delivery of milk (there was still some there, anyway).....But reckoned all the milk would be gone by the end of the afternoon.
I know a lot of dairy farmers haven't had their milk collected and have simply had to 'sluice' it away.

There was virtually no bread.....And the sandwich shelves were completely bare.
Lots of other stuff had virtually run out too.....The weirdest one to me was the cans of 'fizzy pop' shelves were almost empty.

Hopefully back to normal in a day or so.......At least we still have mains water, unlike a lot of folk in the South East (?).....The only problem we've got, now the water has unfrozen outside, is that a plastic/nylon tap has been trashed.....So that needs replacing before we can feed the supply through to the big barn.

Hoping to travel down to Albanich on Saturday from Edinburgh.

I'll be taking the A702, then the A74(M), then the A701.

Anyone been down that route recently?

Did have one strange effect - civil servants were working on a Sunday. Just meant that things got screwed up even more than normal. The name of DWP should be changed to "The General Assistance Department" !!!!  ;) ;)

As you will probably know, Jim, it's snowing again (certainly is, here in the West of Scotland). Still, it's only Tuesday - plenty of time for it to clear up for your journey to Dumfries on Saturday. Great to read on your blog that the Consultant says you're clear of cancer now.  :-bd <:-P

Including our outside plastic/nylon tap...... :) :) :) :) :) :)

Though we managed to b*gger a little piece up when bits fell out of the replacement....I think we've put a rubber washer back in the wrong place, so it leaks slightly on the side we're not really interested in.....Hopefully easily fixed when we can be bothered.
The main thing is, that we've got water back to the barn without a geyser blowing out of the broken tap.
