2018 painting challenge: reduce the mountain some more!

Finished the first of my punic wars minis:

the elephants





A stand of balearic slingers (using gre12 greek slingers)



The stand has a little peg at the back, to hold a status cube (i'll talk more about that in a separate post later, for now just know different colours mark a different 'status' for the unit)






Am not completely happy with the bases, think i made them 'too' green.Will see what it looks like on a completely formed base and see if i keep it.

So,adding 22 model means: 479 models painted and 13 forces done:

Soooo, was going to do all the slingers at once, so gauls and romans, but when i was prepping the roman slingers something seemed off. Closer inspection showed half of the roman slingers are in fact iberian warband carrying a falcata. Looks like i'll have to improvise, or make one stand less.

Nope not for a while now. Crisis is on it's way!!

So, already down 6 slingers, to make matters worse, one of the remaining models' sling broke of. Very hard to fix wth glue so i went and repaired it with greenstuff.

Not a first class job but it will have to do.


As I had some left, i decided to just convert the falcata's on the wrong models into a sling. I trimmed down the sword untill i had a little 'rod' left that i could use as an armature, and went from there

These will do just fine when painted up i guess!

AS i had some more green stuff left; I also made a cloak/animal skin for one of my numidians, to represent a chief!



Now i have a bunch of stuff ready for painting:

back left: lybian spearmen
front left: roman slingers
back right: gaul slingers
front right: celtiberian warband

Hope to get started tomorrow!!

Yes! Didn't even see what i was doing most of the time to be honest  

My eyesight is getting worse, new specs aren't helping! I did have a good headstart though, had +2 glasses when i was a toddler, now already on +6 and a bit. Blind as a bat

My left eye is +9, the right +10......and you think you're as blind as a bat.
