I'm doing two WSS project, one will use the new 28mm plastics, and then one with pendraken.

The 28mm project will be small 3 small infantry brigades and 2 semi big cavalry brigades, but in 10mm I can get it alot bigger.
The plan is 30 strong battalions, on a single base, I do this because there realy wasn't that much change in formation for the peiod, this apears to be the most liniar of all liniar warfare periods. the base will be 50x30mm big with 30 figures in 3 deep formation.

So the question is how big can i go. with a single battalion only taking up 50mm of frontage I can get quite a big battle,

Lets say 5 battalions in each brigade and 5 brigades of infanrty
Then another brigades of cavalry with 3 regiments pr. brigade

Thats quite alot. But would look realy good.

The problem you are going to have is playing measurements.

In the rules, where the measure unit (MU) is 1 inch, a Bn has a frontage of 24-27cm.

if MU-cm that gives a frontage of 10-12cm (40%)

5cm frontage means having to halve the measurements in the book, so close range =3cm, and infantry moves 6cm.

I know you have limited room, but that means the playing area is only 36cm x 72cm (equivalent to a 6' x 12' 'full size' table)!
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.
