You would be amazed who falls for these scams. The wife of my former Senior ICT Tech allowed 'IBM' to remote to her PC to fix some issues. A highly intelligent woman, with scary qualifications in finance. The only thing that saved her PC was that she was in her office network with appropriate security!

Part of my job is to tell people 'No, you can't get that email, it's a scam. We've seen 2,000 of them this week". But some of them INSIST they have to check it in case it's relevant...

A small statistic - I work for Local Guvmint - we get around 20,000 email a day. OVER HALF - usually 51-54% - are viruses, spoofs, scams, etc and are blocked by our scanning systems. I dread to think what would happen if we didn't...

I remember hiding under the living room table with the biscuit box (untouched I may add) for rations during the Suez Crisis. At 3 years old I had no real idea of what was happening but had heard enough about The War to assume we were about to be bombed!

You wouldn't turn your nose up at that.

Or .... is it something not to be sniffed at?
