Odd film, but I liked it

Just watched "White Tiger" on YouTube.

It's a Russian film from 2012 about a Tiger tank painted white ... I think that's where they got the title from ... and the Soviet soldiers that try and hunt it down.

Bit odd, but full of various bits of kit including the ubiquitous T34/85, some SU100 & 152's (I think) what appears to be wrecked PzIVs and, of all things a Matilda II that pops up in a couple of places.

The Tiger is a pretty good replica, but very menacing.

Sounds cool.

The Russians had a fair amount of valentines, but Matildas?  :-\

I saw this film recently - good to see something from the Russian
perspective for a change.   Some great scenes but an odd ending.

It does include some really bizarre moments though - if I remember,
they set up a huge ambush for the mysterious white tiger in a small
clearing.   Of course, out of all the vast expanse of Russia, the tiger
duly appears...

For me, it really brings home the limited visibility available to a tank
crew (particularly with the 'its behind you' moment).

Worth seeing.

Interesting.
Thanks for posting the executive summary, Nick.
Sort of "Fury"(2014) meets "Duel"(1971).

There was a scene where the T34/85 was alone in a village, seeking the White Tiger.

The T34 prowled through the village, turret swinging about. Looked for all the world like great beast seeking prey.

I did wonder why someone didn't just pop his head out the hatch, but it did make the tank look like a prehistoric beast.

Also, why were there only ever 3 crew in the T34/85?

The White Tiger was after our hero. It was drawn to him.

Again, no-one ever thought to open a hatch for a quick peep.

Which is why there was such a high casualty rate for tank commanders, shot in the head.
