Hawkwind's latest album is quite good, did they play much of it or was it mainly older stuff?

Not really a mad Hawkwind fan but I like some of their earlier stuff. They started with a lengthy version of 'All Hail the Machine' then a few others I didn't recognise which were -if I remember correctly- from the new album; then 'The Spirit of the Age' and 'Shot Down in the Night' then a few more. The climax was 'Silver Machine' which inevitably got a great response from the crowd.

I really went to see, hear and photograph Uriah Heep and Procul Harum, the rest were a bonus.

If you like your music to be a little on the psychedelic side then check out a group named Purson, very good. The lead singer reminded me of Annie Haslem from Renaissance and they sound a bit like Curved Air.

Hi Mick.

I presume Mick Box is the only remaining original band member left ?

I know David Byron and Gary Thain died quite a long time ago, and the last time I heard of him......Ken Hensley was in Blackfoot.

Just listened to Desire's Magic Theatre on Spotify, quite good. Now on my list to buy :-)

Yep, that's true about Mick Box being the last original.

Back to Purson, I'm listening to The Circle and the Blue Door at the mo, their debut album. (Also, the lead singer, Rosalie Cunningham, is from Southend, my home town so that's another plus.)

Purson remind me a little of All About Eve, with a bit of Souixsie-esque vocals. Will see if they are touring next April/May when I'm in the UK next
