Fred, I am holding you personally responsible for the resurgence  of my painting. I had not picked up a brush for a few months and suddenly, the pictures of the GW Epic games and your rules has got me painting some Epic b & p that I have had for a good two decades -I picked up a cigar box full of the stuff for a Melvin and there was more than enough for a sizeable army.

Now outside of a brief foray of two games of Warhammer waaaaaay back in the day, I have avoided GW like the plague so the Epic army was never intended to be a 40K force of any type, I wanted to paint them up as an alien invasion force in either WW II or Modern period scenarios. At the time they were given a quick paint, drybrush and wash combo but that was it. Now I am putting various styles of camo on them to tart them up a bit.

I've even ordered some of the Pendraken SciFi stuff!

As I said, all your fault...but many thanks.

What's a 'Melvin', Mick ?

Slang for a £5 note as in Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes. My fault, I've used it for years and assumed it was common knowledge.

I knew that not, but I think given time I shall learn to accept my ignorance.

Nope....Never heard that one before....Though it makes perfect sense, Mick.  :)
I'm of the age when 'a score' equated to £20......A 'pony' = £25.....And a 'Monkey' = £500.

A 'tenner' is fairly self explanatory.....as is a 'ton'. (I hope)

Common language ?  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Glad to help Mick!  ;)  :D

It's amazing how much Epic stuff people seem to have around. I missed it the first time round. But I assume it was pretty cheap to. It,  but then took quite a lot of work to get playable.

I suppose it's just as daft as generally using colours for note denominations, with a certain homage to English footballers who, if given the opportunity will immediate add the suffix 'ey' to anyone's name...apart from Rooney and I suppose Alli.

Just me having a pre-lunch ramble.  :) :)

Time to move on methinks...

We were talking about Dixie just a while ago; that was a Confederate tenner.

And back to gaming.

More mini epic on Friday

Space Marines vs Tyranids. I played nids, against my own Marines! It felt like the game was going against me, for much of the game, just couldn't get to grips with the very speedy Marines. But I ended up 1-0 on objectives at the end of turn 4, so a marginal victory to me!!

A good game, and certainly goes a good pace, we easily got through 4 turns in 3 hours, including setup time.

Have anyone who I sent the rules to had chance to play the rules (or even just a play through)?

Today took eldest daughter to hurdles training in Stoke - which will recur over the next few months - so if anyone knows anything good to do for a couple of hours on a winter afternoon in Stoke, all suggestions will be gratefully received. Because while it was a good venue for running and jumping, it was less good as a spectator!

How do you train hurdles, is your eldest daughter the trainer or what?

Just asking. :)

No, she is the athlete. She is still a teenager, so focused on competing now. Basically they were in groups based on ages, as the hurdles are different heights and distances apart for each age group. Then they spent 2hrs running up the hall jumping (well hurdling, as jumping is bad technique) over hurdles, walking back and doing it again. And being corrected on stuff they are doing wrong. She is quite experienced now (at the ripe old age of 14) so this is focusing on perfecting technique, rather than on the basics of getting over the hurdle. Frankly seeing what you have to do with your legs to hurdle properly, I have no idea how she learnt to do it in the first place.
