More work on Tyrconnel's Horse

Another coat of red to strengthen it a bit. Gloves and cross belts done buff. Lace gone over with white. Wood darkened. Tack gone over in black. Blanket rolls done in a couple of greyish colours.

Still need to do hat lace, highlights on the horses, socks and blazes on horses. White lace on the back strip, which I realised I had missed when I took the photo  :-[

De La Meloniere (Williamite)

And a start on one of William's Huguenot foot regiments, they will have blue facings.
Just a wash of medium grey so far, with hats and wood done.

Not many updates for the last couple of weeks, between holidays, olympics and work.

One thing I have been working on is some base extensions for some of my Elementals. These figures were originally based on 40x30mm bases, for Kings of War. But for our home brew rules 40x40mm is the order of the day, and while 40x30mm isn't too much of a problem, it occasionally causes a bit of confusion. Rather than rebasing, which is always far too much work, I got Leon to cut me some 4x40mm and 5x40mm strips of MDF to glue on to the existing bases. This has worked well - I went for a 9mm addition rather than 10mm as I thought there would be a little extra width added by the gluing - but probably 5mm on each edge would have worked fine.

Here you can see the raw mdf extensions - I also took the opportunity to add some dice holders.

And here with the extra bits of base painted and flocked.

Tyrconnell's Horse
Got the last bits of lace and tack done on these guys - and then stuck on bases.

Still the bases to finish off, along with a flag.

Highlanders
From the reading I have done it seems likely that by the time of the Boyne most Highland units had been re-clothed and re-equipped like most other troops - but for the previous year more traditionally equipped  highland units were involved (and I had these guys nearly ready anyway!)

Again bases and flags to do, a bit of a theme here...
