I drink a lot.

I game a lot.

I never drink and game.  It spoils the fun.

Perfectly put.  Our games got niggly when alcohol was involved  :(

I gave up drinking alcohol when I game after I lost an argument with myself during one of my solo games.

My tipple of fancy is tea and I have acquired a taste for leaf tea -preferably Eastern European, no milk or sugar (from the local Polish shop).

Difficult to get at the moment because of the country's issues but Malawi tea is exquisite.

I also like having a couple of drinks before I do any painting in the evening

Yeah, alcohol seems okay with "lighter" games; we had  laugh riot with DMH and a bottle of port ;)

How about tea flavoured jelly with ice cream? Does that appeal to you Ian ;)?

It helps I'm very easy going and let Sunjester cheat.  (He doesn't appear to have noticed this thread - how many digs can I get in before he does)

Of course our games are for the same purpose as the beer - relaxation.  We once argued not over winning, but over who'd lost.  Appropriately it was an Age of Reason battle.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Last game I played (sans alcohol)  we were both trying to argue we'd lost  ;D

Just found this thread so will ignore all the twaddle it has undoubtedly developed into and answer the question. Alcohol and wargaming do not mix. Never drink while playing and seldom go to the pub after a game. A friend of mine did on one occasion, lost his cool in a heated discussion over something trivial. threw his beer over the chap he was arguing with and left the club for good. Other than a pleasant accompaniment to a meal, alcohol is a waste of space (and money, that could be spent on shinies etc.).

Agree with all of that apart from the last line  ;)

The local club met in licensed premises all the time I was a member, still does as far as I know, and I'm not aware of a single incident that was down to the availability of alcohol.

Scotsmen, engaged in a confrontational pastime, consuming alcohol and remaining civil .... the reputation of our race is ruined!  :o :D ;D ;D

Yeah, our club meets in a YHA with alcohol available throughout the meeting. Yes, we do get some spirited arguments, but never anything remotely violent.

It's the "spirited" that's the problem for me.
