Thank you guys, there are some very inspiring works in the past competitions archive and on Pendraken site as well.
I'm not starting a painting diary for which I saw there's a specific section, but suffice to say that I choose a very simple approach, with a base coat, a general wash and a highlight. We often tend to make things harder than necessary.
I find more important at 10mm scale the general aspect of the whole unit, rather than the 4th layer of highlights on the canteen pouch webbing (I guess you know what I mean).

I did like the look of yours and ale's armies in the painting competition. I was guessing they were based for  Megablitz - do you have a link for the Alto Command rules, I've always been interested in high level rules, but not found a set that is playable?
