Ray Liotta was a bit of a surprise.  Goodfellas is one of those films that I'll watch whenever it's on, regardless if it's 10 minutes or 1 hour into it.

I've been meaning to catch the Sopranos prequel film with Liotta in it, I'll have to get it watched now.

Two actors who turned in memorable performances but never quite made the summit: from the US Bo Hopkins, American Graffiti, Midnight Express and Crazy Lee in the Wild Bunch; and UK comedy actress Patricia Brake, Ronnie Barker's daughter in Porridge, later in almost all the UK soaps and seven different patients in Casualty and Holby.

Steve J

Phil Bennet, Welsh rugby legend, aged 72 :'(. He will always be remembered for 'that try' :

John Cook

Arguably the best fly-half ever.  I never tire of watching that Barbarians/All Blacks game.  72 is no age, very sad.

This tune still send shivers down my spine.

Of course, it all started to downhill when Connery left.

As revealed on QI, recycled from Norman's failed stage musical, adapted from VS Naipaul's  "A House for Mr. Biswas". It's really about an Indian chap with an unlucky sneeze:

Hearing the original might help with the earworm, but probably won't...

David Warner, former Chancellor of the Klingon Empire and the "There are five lights" Cardassian torturer in TNG. Did work quite a bit outside Star Trek, notably Titanic and the Omen. I still remember him as the weary ADC in "Cross of Iron".

And Paul Sorvino, Paulie in "Goodfellas" and a host of mafia types in movies since. Also played Henry Kissinger in Oliver Stone's Nixon apparently, though I've not seen it.

fsn

Oh! David Warner was one of those actors who turned up everywhere and never failed to give a great performance.

Particularly chilling as Capt Sawyer in "Hornblower".

The sound of much of my childhood from Right Said Fred and Hole in the Ground to the Wombles and later Jackanory and Dr Who.
Much loved and much missed.
