Hi,

I am looking for some help please. I am working on my Crusader Rules for 10mm.

I was watching a DVD last night about the 1st Crusade and they said that at the Battle of Dorylaeum the Turks may have used a batallion of archers called Nalkiya who fired their bows from a sat/lying position, holding the bow with their feet and reclining/ lifting their legs, using the leg muscles to draw the string to achieve greater distances.

I cant find any other reference to this unit of Archers and wondered if I have the spelling incorrect,

Any help or guidance would be most appreciated.

Cheers,

The only thing I found was this about the "naukia" (?)  :-\

I didn't know about shooting like that. As my shoulder hurts me, I should use my bow like this...  :D

Never heard anything like these.

But sometimes History beats Fantasy....

As far as I know Danishmend turks use horse archers massively.

Just to be clear, which Doryleum are we talking about? 1st (1097) with Bohemond vs Seljuqs or 2nd (1147) Conrad vs Seljuqs?

I was under the impression that both involved large numbers of Seljuq horse archers with no real mention of Seljuq foot.

There again the depth of my ignorance should not be underestimated!
