After seeing Leon's plug of Wargame –Model-Mods on the forum I went along just to have a look, not to buy anything you understand - just to look.

The home page shows some very nice laser cut MDF buildings in 28mm. Phew  #:-S – nothing I need there I said to myself.  I then looked at the shop area of the site and they do a good selection of useful stuff :-bd

For some time I have been wondering what to do with my Vallejo dropper bottles.  I keep my paints in some plastic draws from Staples. This is fine for pots but I have a real problem with the Vallejo bottles.  If they are packed tight enough not to fall over you cannot identify the colours by the label.  You can put a spot of colour on the well on the top but some colours – especially for my North Africa stuff are very similar. So you have to lift several pots to find the colour you want. If they are not packed tightly they fall over causing you to have to rummage for them.

I took a look at the paint stands. They come in two basic types.  One for standard pots to stand on and one to store your Vallejo bottles on their sides.  They were very reasonable priced. The need for a Vallejo one was obvious.  I also ordered a normal paint pot stand to put my figures on so they can dry away from the work area.

I placed my order at the weekend expecting it to take a couple of weeks to arrive, but three days later the postman delivered the parcel.

These are the two products I ordered:-

The contents were flat packed in bubble wrap with a brief but sufficient instruction sheet. In about 20 minutes I had assembled both stands.  They went together extremely well and I did not bother gluing them as the construction seems rigid enough for normal use.

The Vallejo paint stand is excellent allowing you to see the bottles. There is room on the shelves to allow you to write on them for quick identification if you wished

The Paint pot stand would allow two pots deep on each shelf. It is also ideal for placing figures to dry after assembly or painting and to keep them off the workspace

It is worth reading the instructions as it is possible to assemble them the wrong way round. It is also suggested that you place them against the wall as they are relatively light. There is room to glue a piece of MDF out of site under the bottom shelf to aid the stability if you wished. Due to the laser cutting the pieces do have a rather distinct smell but this goes away after couple of days.

I am very impressed with both of the stands I bought. The Vallejo one in particular is excellent and a far more efficient use of space than the paint carousels I had previously considered.

I will be ordering too once my new work room is finished.  Love the paint racks  :-bd
