Does anyone use F&F with there 10mm figures? If so how do you like to base them? I am thinking of doing 1866 using the Wyre Forest Games Club Furia Francaise adaptation. Or i may use the new 1866 rule set but i am not sure which will be better in terms of visual appeal and the rules themselves.

Any advise folks.

F&F is perhaps one of the best rulesets around.

We've been playing it a fair bit lately.

Basing for 10mm infantry = 1" x 1" base with 12 figures in 2 lines of 6.  We've got a bunch of Old Glory strip figures (sorry Pendraken  ).

Were i to start again using Pendraken i'd use the same bases and pack as many figures on in 2 lines as possible...

Mine are based as per the rules, but I intend to rebase soon. I orginanally started 10mm as a cheap alternative 17 years ago, but they are sparsely based - 3 on a bas, more in skirmish fomation.  I intend to rebas to 30mms close enough to F&F and suitable for Peter Pig ACW and Black Powder, so I can improve the actual basing materiel and put them denser - which will require extra troops to be bought/Painted

Just for the record I also think that Fire and Fury are one of the best set of rules around.

Many years ago when I started using the rules for my 6mm figues I used 7 or 8 figurs on a 3/4 inch wide base and basically cut all moves and ranges by 1/4 (so the standard 12 inch move for infantry became 9 inches). This enabled me to fight bigger battles in a smaller area. That said if I was starting again now (and I am toying with the idea of 10mm Napoleonics and using the Age of Eagles variant of the F&F rules) I would use the standard base size and simply put more figures on the base. It should look great.

FYI, the "official" Regimental Fire & Fury has just been released, in hardcover, no less. Got mine from On Military Matters for $36. It's nice and shiny!

Yes, basing is the same. The scale has dropped to 40 man stands, 1" = 25 yards.  Just going through them quickly I saw several changes in the charts, so while RF&F is very familiar and similar, expect more detail on weapon types, command and movement. If you like F&F, this is a must have.

My father has adapted it for Sudan, and we've played the Napoleonic and Franco-Prussian War varients at our club. I've even used the close-combat mechanism in my set of 10mm Dark Ages rules 
Funny that they've just brought out 'Regimental' F&F, we've always replaced the word 'Brigade' with 'Regiment' when we've played it because you can play smaller actions.

At last, got my hands on a copy today. All shiny and full of eye candy.

Just need to amend it now to cover the 1866 war.

For 1866 IIRC Battle Fields are quit large.
If you cut the base size to 20mm or 3/4" a reduction of 25% and do the same with all measurements.
This makes your table 50% larger.
ie. if your table  is 2 Miles X 1 Mile it becomes 3 X 1.5 Miles. in scale

Newbie here. Stupid question incoming. 

Can F&F be played on the battalion level, i.e with battalions as the main maneuver elements? And do the rules allow for different formations of the battalions, such as line, carré and various types of column? Or are these formations only prescribed at regimental or higher level?

Aart, the original F&F the "normal" (command stand & some bases) unit is a brigade, I think that the new version has the normal unit as a regiment/battalion. As far as formations go I believe that in the ACW they really only adopted 2 Line or Column, dunno what the rules allow tho,

Extended Line = Skirimish - 1 deep, wide as needed
Line = 2x deep, wide as needed
Field Column = Assault Column 2 wide x 3 deep minimums
March Column = 1 wide x as long as you need
